LOTTO - September 2013

This month I've chosen another old favorite, Sarah's Choice, for or blocks. Use two blues and a cream background. See sample. Sorry its fuzzy- I only have one hand this month.

Follow the usual rules:

1. with your blocks include name, mailing address, forum name and $1 to cover postage for the winning blocks.

2. if possible, either attach your name to the back of each block or write your name in the seam allowance with a fabric pen so the winner knows who made the block (this is not a requirement, just a request)

3. all blocks received by the last day of the month will be included in the lotto drawing

4. you will have 1, 2 or 3 chances to win, depending on how many blocks you've sent in.

Blocks are mailed to Valarie who will arrange the drawing at the end of the month. If you need her address, find her "ittlehelen" name on a previous lotto and send her (or me) a msg.

Hmmmmm, I've been thinking (ok, ok, ok.....stop laughing!), I have a few red/white/blue orphan blocks here and I'm thinking I should probably be able to get 2 quilts from these. Hmmmmmm........ oh my GOSH!! We have been away for a few days; just checked my email and found that I WON those gorgeous PINK blocks!! Thank you, THANK you, one and all...I can't wait to see them in person. I wasn't keen on the idea of 'pink' in the beginning, but once I made my blocks, well...I changed my mind! and then when the picture of the group together, oh my!! They are amazing. Not sure yet, but my thoughts are perhaps along the lines of getting my sisters to help....we could make a quilt for next year's Breast Cancer Awareness month....all four of us participate in some Breast Cancer charity or another..... Finally off to mail my block. Couldn't stop quilting and didn't want to change the foot, so today I set up my other machine for a while. Read something lately that said due to so much machine quilting it wasn't necessary anymore to press seams to one side. Since I never know quite how to press without a pattern I decided to try it. Hope that doesn't present a problem to any hand quilters. Please let me know. Purple is lighter than it appears. Overcast today. LindaB/CA

Hi...anyone participating in the August lotto and "the Challenge", feel free to mail your challenge quilt along with your lotto blocks...I'm driving to the retreat, so I'm happy to deliver your challenge to the retreat. Also...you have some extra time for the August blocks...I'll do the drawing at the retreat - that's gives everyone a few extra days! Sorry I didn't offer quilt delivery earlier...didn't think about it...was too caught up in deciding on my challenge!...thanks heavens it's just about done...done...done... <:-0gt;V.

Are you using a tone-on-tone for the cream, or an unbleached muslin?

I am going to try to participate this month ... gotta find that CREAM!!!

any off white would do. muslin would work but mine is a print. sorry, cant type yet.

I think two of us used the same darker blue fabric. What are the odds of that?

Beth...Thanks for being there!! And you are so right, all of the blocks are lovely and will make a beautiful quilt.

...This months lotto winner with the number 5 is Redmary!!!...a relative newcomer to the lotto...nothing like beginner's luck!
