I did find the 6x6 in the Alabama white marble. I don't know what the shipping price is but the per square foot price is $7.50. Bill, adding the bevels doesn't sound so bad except that for this particular floor I won't be doing it and it sounds like something that could be expensive to pay someone else to do. Neither Walker Zanger nor Ann Sacks carry smaller squares. They have other sizes, very small, larger than one foot square, and some other misc. sizes. Well, cutting them up may be the way to go unless I like the Alabama marble.

I never got a detailed invoice but when I talked to the tile in-house designer originally, I remember she checked prices and it was about $5 a tile. I got the floor and ceiling tile from them also and because the talavera was an accent and we didn't order a large quantity, I didn't price it anywhere else. Thanks for the ideas.

Bill, does a brick pattern 4x4 or 5x5 white tile with dark grout look bad? (Why do we only see subways with dark grout?) Let me put it this way-- it would look no better or worse than what you see in the picture I posted. Now, as to whether or not it would look "bad", that's up to you. My opinion, nor anyone else's would count. One thing to keep in mind, though-- if you're going to use a grout with that much contrast, the tile work had damn well be perfect, because if there's so much as 1/32" variation in a cut, or the size of a grout joint, it'll be seen bigtime. THAT'S why very few people will choose to use that much contrast. That, and the fact that it tends to overpower any other design feature in the room. But some people like that. Me personally, I like the look of that tub enclosure. It's the reason I saved it when it got posted about 5 years ago. But I'm in the minority.

Regarding the grout, if you're doing a grout color that is in line with the color(s) in the tile it shouldn't look too busy in any size. I saw a stunning photo the other day of a pretty busy granite, light splash tiles and super dark grout so it doesn't all have to be super muted to blend. As for what the lady said, if you love the 6x6 more than the others, do it. I have short splash on both walls of my kitchen due to cabs and a window so 6x6 would never work but I like the looks of them and didn't realize it was a trend, but what do I know?
