I got the binding on a baby quilt this afternoon, so just have to hand-stitch to the back and that is done. Next up is my nativity quilt - hopefully I can get it quilted and bound this weekend.

I have 3 birthday blocks to make - that's the 'must do' project for tomorrow. DH has been out of town for a week and gets home tomorrow evening so I have the day tomorrow to sew but he gets my attention on Sunday.

Tonight I finished putting together the group picture for the 1st round robin group! My Photoshop skills were a little rusty but I think it turned out pretty good.

I teach this morning (I teach at ITT Technical Institute) then I will come home and sew. I am working on a challenge quilt for the Pigeon Forge, TN Quiltfest. It doesn't have to be completed until March but I am trying to get a head start. I also need to do October birthday block and make a pair of small curtains.

I'm hoping to start assembling the blocks on my 2 wedding quilts - I finally finished trimming all the pieces this week (what a pain!) but have not had the chance to start assembling the blocks yet. I did have some fun yesterday after work - DH and I went to an antique store and I found a bag of silk fabric for $4.00. When I got home and opened it up, it was 30 yds of 27" wide off-white silk! We also went to a craft co-op that is shutting down and they had fill-a-bag with fabric for $16.00. So, I've added stash - now just need time to sew!

I have 3 more plants to plant before it rains and its getting closer.
Probably will be sewing on my quilt as you go butterfly quilt but no hurry that is suppose to be a winter project. I am working on Fairy Xmas panel and as soon as my material comes in will make my Xmas skirt.

I finished the birthday blocks today AND cleaned the sewing room! That was a big accomplishment and long, long overdue. Now I'm hoping DH finds some project he wants to work on tomorrow so I have an excuse to sneak back to the quilting and start messing up my room again! Nature loves chaos, you know, and I want to do my part to help! âº

I made a "Raggedy Anne" outfit for a friend that is a doll collector. Not for a Raggedy doll but that is what she requested. Working on one of Sylvia's blocks. That will probably take all weekend. Called Fools Puzzle-aptly named-2" drunkard path blocks.. Forgot the tread the machine when I sewed the first one!!!!!!!!Dementia is setting. Have to start planning a baby quilt for a little girl.
Linda, I made a Brown Bear Quilt last year. Didn't use a pattern but it was well received and was fun to make. Found a book to go with it. Have fun.

I am about half way into a scrappy triple Irish chain for my sis. The weeds are calling me lol so I will spend time with them.
I need to clean my sewing room too, it is amazing how fast the dust bunnies build up.
DH gets absorbed into college football Saturday afternoons so I don't feel guilty leaving him alone.

I made a birthday block tonight and cut and pressed the binding for a Christmas wallhanging. I want to get the binding sewn on tomorrow and also mark and start handquilting a mini quilt.
DH and I went to a fall fair today and he wants to go to another one tomorrow if it doesn't rain. I have a pass for 2 to all fall fairs in Ontario so he wants to take advantage of it. If it rains I can quilt all day!

I'm trying a celtic design Xmas wallhanging and playing with bias strips. I've never done this and want a hand project to take to the retreat. I'm also throwing fabric around the place trying to decide what I want to make/finish while there. I have too many ideas for my own good.

This weekend I'm quilting my Round Robin entry for our quilt show. I have to turn it in by Sept. 25 and have been dragging my heels on this. The reason? I don't like this project very much. We started out with the fabrics we wanted to use, then my very dear friend decided that she would have us all choose a fat quarter and add that to the mix. But, she didn't tell us we would have to use the FQ until AFTER we had chosen. I thought the FQ was just a gift from her.

This Round Robin is a group project; we all decided as a group how to proceed: 1) open a fortune cookie after we had dinner at a good Chinese restaurant 2) interpret the fortune any way we wanted as the theme of our wall quilt 3) make the first block ourselves and include it with all the fabrics to be used in the quilt 4) pass the block and fabrics to all participants in turn 5) finish up our quilt by adding any other blocks, embellishments, borders, etc. in time to go in our 2010 quilt show.

So why did this dear friend think it was ok for her to say "now, add this FQ to the fabrics in your Round Robin quilt"? Without asking us about this first?

O.k. rant over. I am actually enjoying the quilting today, but I've got a cold/sinus whatever that is bringing me down. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. But I will speak up the next time if this should happen again.

I was just looking at my fabric that I have not put away yet, and I really need to reorganize and put away fabric. It is scary how quickly it can take over!

Probably nothing, just finishing popping some ends on a newly completed project. I finished sewing on its sleeve Friday for Show I hope to enter in the Fall.

Also worked on uploading the pix to Photobucket last night & even some on to here today. Slowish computer ... sigh ...

Linda - I was wondering how much "lighter" you must feel - delivering your GrandDog and your wedding anniversary quilt to your DD &SIL.

Teresa- that FQ surprise idea sounds like it came out of one of the Elm Creek Quilt novels. I have only read a few of the early books in the series and that idea or similar was the challenge ~LOL~ I hate sewing on fabric or a combo I dislike.

Karlene, they loved the quilt. They said they were so glad to have their dog back they were going to let her sleep with them that night. They weren't going to put the quilt on the bed yet. Thank goodness! My DD said it will be a family heirloom and they won't let the dog get on it.
Magothyrivergirl, I feel much lighter! We do miss the dog but I am SO glad to be finished with the quilt.
I cut out the wall hanging and the baby quilt today. I went shopping yesterday to get the needed fabrics for both of them.

Oh my oh my. I've been mugged by Quilt Connection on the way to MTSU. It's right on the way, but I didn't notice it the first few trips. Even then thought to myself, Someday I'll check out that place, when it's convenient and I'm not rushed, but I have too much fabric already.

So, $50 later, I made it home with my son for the weekend and some truly, truly, TRULY lovely batiks and a couple more colors of Kaufman's Fusion vine for a barely thought about blue and purple quilt that crossed my mind months ago.

THEN, there was a little pile of half price cuts. Three yards of RJR purple ditsy flower print "Rose Cottage" for a tenner. Four yards of Hoffman "Stitches and Stash" purple, pink, and yellow ditsy flower quilt labels for a mere $15.

It's a bargain! At my pace, I will need a quilt label about every three years, and one quilt might even match the style of these labels someday, so I should be all set for about two thousand years.

In any case, who ever gets me for Secret Santa....you're getting some ditsy flower quilt labels. :D

I think I only spent about 30 minutes on my hand applique all weekend. Otherwise, I just had to walk by my sewing machine and sigh. It was a busy weekend with the TVA fair and splitting wood for the winter. At least the wood splitting is finished until next year!

Hi, I am new to the Quilt Forum. This past weekend I worked on a block for my queensize Card Tricks quilt. Have 66 blocks out of 80 made so far. Got the 9" Card Tricks block pattern out of the Better Homes and Gardens "Quilt Pink for Hope" book. I also drafted up patterns for 2 9" applique blocks for my mom's canning jar quilt that I am fixing to start. Got the white 9" blocks cut out and have the plastic templates traced and cut out. So now this week am trying to decide what veggie/berry fabrics to use on each block. Am making the canning jar quilt be a lapquilt, 9" blocks, 5 blocks x 4 blocks.

Am mostly just browsing the Quilt Forum to see what it is all about.

Here is a small quilt I made for my friend's new puppy. I used 9" Card Tricks block and used a towel instead of batting so is not a choking hazard to the puppy.

Am starting an applique canning jar lap-quilt for my mom's Christmas present this week. In 2011 I want to start a queensize Grandma's Flower Garden hexagon quilt and make some embroidered lap-quilts. And I have a back burner 9" flower pot applique that I have the plastic templates for and have started cutting out a few flowers for. My sister had gotten me in 2008 the Better Homes and Gardens "Quilt Pink for Hope" quilt book, so am having fun making 9" blocks this year.
