Your room is lovely! You have made a very good start!

The thing that leaps out at me is the bleak emptiness of the bookcases. Do you have plans for the shelves?

If you want a "clubby" look, you might think about getting some books. For idea visual impact, you would want sets of books -- wouldn't it be nice to have some neutral, warm toned, leather-bound sets of books in there?

Oh, I know... but if you want nice-looking books, you can pick them up very cheaply at yard-sales. Resist the urge to fill the shelves with doodads and dingles.

i have a TON of old books that i purchased from a bookstore that was going out of business. thought i would add once the art and other accessories are decided and placed. TOTALLY stumped and need desperate help with the art. once art is decided, all else will fall into place, well hopefully.

I have the same colors in my LR, but I've decorated with more of an old world look. What about antique reproductions of hunting dogs or people from history?

Have you looked at Art.com or allposters.com? They have some great pictures there in different sizes and they do a great job at matting and framing, for a decent price.

What kind of club do you want the room to look like? A men's business club? A disco club? A modern hip martini lounge?

The four architectural renderings might look good grouped together above the chest next to your loveseat, or behind it, depending upon what you accessorize on the chest itself. I couldn't tell the sizes, but if they are too small for the fireplace area, this is another wall where you need art that might look appealing.

It's a lovely room thus far, you're just lacking the final elements to bring it all cohesively together. I like the red throw on the couch!

You have a very pretty room.

One suggestion I have is to get a room divider/screen to place behind the loveseat - it will fill up the corner behind the loveseat. Then you could use your 4 prints over the console next to it with a lamp.

As for the bookshelves.....have you thought about 1 mirror on each side of the fireplace? Then keep it simple with a boston fern in a pretty cache pot in front of each mirror......the shelves with your books you spoke of. You might could even use your 4 prints over the fireplace.

I love family photos....so a few photos in b & w sprinkled in with the books & side tables would look good in pretty cohesive frames (something I am lacking!!).

OK, you MUST relax and enjoy the process of decorating. LOL You are in the same position as so many who feel that decorating will at some time be "finished". I don't buy into that because a good room should continue to evolve and change with the seasons, time, and your personal growth/change.

You have a very good base from which to continue decorating this room. I like everything in the room (not that that matters much) and hope you will continue to collect accessories and art OVER TIME. I recommend searching antique stores and other pre-owned venues for items which have the patina of years which will add so much to this room. If you have not already done so you should place color chips, upholstery and drapery samples, even a photo or two in a small baggie and take it with you as you shop. Find things that you love and would hate to leave in the store. Those are the accessories that will mean something to you in the future. If you have any family "heirlooms" gathering dust bring them out and try them. If not, find other people's family heirlooms and use them.

Congrats on a job well done so far, you will continue to decorate well and I wish you much enjoyment on the process.

What a great job. You have gotten some very good advice here, and I know everyone is thinking it and if someone has said it, forgive me, but let your books be a part of your art. You can artfully place books by color and height, mixed with objects d'art, such that they are a part of the design.

I really think you have (don't hit me) too much on your mantle. I think you need to pare that down. I love the architectural renderings. I think all of them group together on one side would be beautiful. I also like the idea of two mirrors embracing the fireplace area, perhaps simple mirrors with simple mirrored framing from your local glass dealer who will do it at 2% of what Restoration Hardware charges for something you must order and risk it being broken on arrival plus those terrible shipping charges. ;-)
