Only two weeks to go...

Those lilies are pretty much done, but i have some decent pictures that i'll place where the lilies were. My red, yellow and red-and-yellow lilies will still be blooming on Sunday - thank goodness! Of the daylilies, only Silent Sentry is blooming so far, but some of the others may open by then. Centrefold is just starting to open now, as are some of the Orienpets (i thought the fasciated ones were Orienpets, but they weren't), and there are a couple more that are going to open this week. Lots of yarrow is blooming, and some veronica spicata, as well as hollyhocks, delphiniums (may be touch-and-go), filipendula and a few campanula. There are lots of cosmos and poppies too, nicotiana, impatiens and morning glories. And i got started on the weed whacking this morning - it's too hot again, so i'm here inside until it cools down. Have to laugh - i've been keeping track of the WeatherNetwork's predictions for Sunday ever since it came on to the two-week trend. Here are the predictions for each day: Sunday July 9th - cloudy, 28° Monday July 10th - partly cloudy, 29° Tuesday July 11th - rain, 33° Wednesday July 12th - cloudy, 23° Thursday July 13th - no data Friday July 14th - mix of sun and cloud, 21° Saturday July 15th - mostly sunny, 25° Sunday July 16th - cloudy, 26° Monday July 17th - sun and cloud, 29° Tuesday July 18th - a few showers, 29° Anal? No - it gives me a good laugh! LOL I love weather predictions!

Cruise upcoming in over two weeks, and

Kathleen, it's according to when and where you are going. Been to Cozumel a number of times, and twice during spring break, and that is NOT a great time to go, if you are a senior, want peace and quiet. Caribbean, I've never had an unpleasant experience. Alaska, twice, very upscale, quiet, pleasant, once on Celebrity and this past summer Golden Princess, which the latter was my favorite ship. Mediterranean cruise, fantastic! Carnival Freedom Fall foilage cruise, wonderfully quiet, almost too quiet :o) Those that go out of the port of Mobile, in my opinion are big time party, especially spring and summer. I've never witnessed fights, had people go overboard, but have seen drunks on spring break, college students as well as adults, and moreso when leaving port, which is big party time on the poolside deck.

Two "beauty products" I tried last week
Q
Comments (19)
I use that same BB cream and I love it. I thought it was the same as the dark spot removing cream but with tint. I don't know why I thought that so I could be wrong. When I wear foundation I use the dark spot remover underneath. I don't have dark spots but it evens out my skin tone (I believe it uses Vitamin C to do this). But I picked up the BB cream off the supermarket clearance rack (that's where I buy a lot of name brand beauty products) at some point and would occasionally use that instead of foundation (I need lighter coverage since using the dark spot remover.) I ran low on foundation and I've been using the BB cream exclusively for a few weeks. I use a transluscent mineral powder over it. My latest and greatest find (from the supermarket clearance rack!) is Nexxus Split End Mender. I used to barely use a hair dryer on my hair and rarely saw a split end but I've become addicted to the flat iron, which comes with a price. This stuff really disguises the split ends. You only put it on about once a week. My other sort-of-recent favorite, since spring, is Mary Kay's Microdermabrasion kit. It's just a really fine-grained exfoliator. I know there must be a less expensive comparable product out there but I haven't found it yet. The kit was $58 but it lasts a very long time. It comes with a rejuvenator (moisturizer) but that hasn't moved me one way or another. You can buy the products separately - I will probably only buy the exfoliator in the future. A friend of mine started selling MK products in the spring. I tried several things but they ones I really like are the eye firming cream, the microdermabrasion cream and the Satin Hands, which she gave me half price. I don't think I would pay full price for it but I love it. It's basically just rubbing your hands with Vaseline, exfoliating, rinsing and moisturizing. That routine does wonders for your hands. For hair straightening I've been using John Frieda's 3 day straight and Brazilian Keratin Therapy Flat Iron Spray. I didn't think the 3 Day Straight did anything at first and I put it away. But it was about $9 so I decided I would use it up anyway so I wouldn't end up tossing it and I noticed my hair was staying straighter (could also be that I first tried it in high humidity weather and then started up again when the humidity moved out). Straightening your hair is like heroin - it's a pain in the butt to keep up and you wish you never started but you can't stop doing it even though you know it's causing so much damage.

Quite the two weeks I have had....

You have shown tremendous strength through this, jewels. You can be very proud of yourself because getting your dad was a gift to your family. As time went by he would have regretted not being there, and it would have been a major hurt to your step-mom too. (I know someone like your dad, so I understand that too well.) Excellent idea to get the hair done. You have to help yourself first before you can help others. Definitely find more opportunities to keep your mind and body peaceful: reading, knitting, hot bath, walk, whatever works for you. Hope the next few weeks smooth out for you and your family. Have a good year ahead.

I watched Steel Magnolias last night and it sure was good. Had not seen it in years, I love the humor in that show. I watched the special features and it was about the author's sister. He was having a rough time with her death and one of his friends said write about how you are feeling, it may help. He started out with a short story and it became a play, then a movie. In the final scene where they disconnect the girl, the real mother was behind the camera watching. The writer told his mom he didn't think she should be there and the mother said I need to be there, I want to see Julia get up and walk away.

Not too far from me, and I did not even know it. I have a cousin who lives in Benettesville South Carolina which is not too far from Conyers College. Thanks for posting.

stargazzer, I just saw Steel Magnolias for the first time a month ago; I always heard it was a good movie. I was surprised that Julia's character had diabetes. I have diabetes too and when I have low blood sugar my family usually just stands there telling me that I'm sweating or drooling...they never help me and still haven't realized that I don't know when it's happening! It was awesome to see people taking charge and trying to help her! I've learned that I have to depend on myself and not let it get to that stage.

Hmmm, good movies? I'm so behind the times I'm not the right person to ask!

I think it would depend upon what movies you have already found you really liked, you might not like what others do, but here are mine -

My top favorites are:

Empire Of The Sun (Stephen Spielburg)
Angela's Ashes - both of these two are movies based upon actual biograpies - WONDERFUL

Dangerous Liaisons (won Oscars, a 'period' piece) - a movie encompassing ALL the best subjects rolled into one movie: love, hate, games, bullies, revenge, redemption (John Malcovich and Glenn Close)

A great murder mystery "Dead Again" starring Emma Thompson and her then-husband Kenneth Braunaugh

Don Juan DeMarko (best Johnney Depp movie EVER- a magical romance story)

Love Actually (great comedy)

But, my husband doesn't like any of these movies - he is more into fantasy stuff like Sci-fi and Lord of the Rings stuff which I find unwatchable.

Here's hoping you got some good ideas - these I listed all have been out for quite awhile so they should be easily obtained.

I have "Doubt" for this weekend's viewing (Meryl Streep newest) which I'm really looking forward to. However, I'll be watching it alone as He would rather be hogtied and boiled in oil than watch anything "Meryl" *LOL*

I enjoyed two documentaries this week
