You need a good seasoned hardwood installer and tileman. Both trades are highly specialized. Please give alot of thought to this. On the tile question one has to know which tile is suitable and which thinset to use for exterior applications. A good tileman will know all this... a landscaper may or may not. Same applies for the hardwood.

One seems warmer (cozy), one seems cooler (peaceful), but they are both very light and I would be concerned how they would look with ivory furniture. Do they contrast without clashing? A warm light color I used in my Mom's apartment was Blond Wood. She was not wanting any color, but I didn't want her to have the cold white walls. THe color had to be bright enough to not obscure much light. Her apt doesn't have a lot of natural light. Blond Wood was perfect for both of us. She gets tons of compliments on it. It is dark enough that it would contrast well with ivory furniture but not too dark for light purposes. Definitely it is in the warm category vs. cool. I'm not a cool color person, so I can't help much on those.

Now I remember your kitchen! :) Glad you got that oven out of the corner. As I recall the new layout is excellent. One other question. I'm not sure because I'm not an architect but is there a way to lower the roof pitch a bit. It feels like the house is too much hat and not enough house. It seems to me if there's nothing except the one room over the garage, it could be lowered a bit? I removed the shutters. I think if you beef up the moldings so they're thicker all around, you won't need the shutter and it will create some interest for the house. I'll find you some examples. I moved that double column so it now looks like you have both holding up the house. In the laundry room, I made the window a double window and the same size as in bedroom 2. If you're concerned about people looking in, put a nice shade on the window or frosted glass. I didn't like the two windows separated and felt it had no relationship to the other windows in the house on the garage. I instead made it a triple. I also do not like when second story windows are as long as first story windows. I shortened the window length over the garage and made it a double so it matched the length of the window in the gable over the front door I feel that overall, with the changes your eye is not jumping around as much and the door and the gable over the door is the focus.

I am sorry for your loss. Your father left a little of himself in you and your family. I lost my father many years ago and I still miss him today. I pray you can get over the pain so you can enjoy your memories.

I am so sorry. Dad's can be so very special. Mine has been gone for 16 years, and there isn't a day I don't miss him. But, I have alot of wonderful memories to get me through those times. (((Hugs)))

I'm adding my sympathies to the rest here. My dad passed away 10 1/2 years ago, and I still miss him. I hope the sorrow is replaced with loving memories.
