That's all I'm going to say! Did love it though.

    It made me happy, although I liked all of the stars that made it to the end.

  • 13 years ago

    georgysmon- who did you think should win?

    I was happy with the winners but I thought second and third place should have been switched.

    Electric shock when touching washer and dryer simultaneously

    Q

    Comments (6)
    First I would make sure someone hasn't put a 3 to 2 prong adapter on the washer plug which would do away with the ground and perhaps turned the plug upside down which would reverse the polarity. Before they started using polarized plugs women would often get shocked when using wringer washers because they would get plugged in backwards. Polarized plugs are there for a reason and those adapters can be very dangerous.

    at first glance, i thought the "weird-looking ailment" looked like a well-healed enucleation that was weeping fluid of some sort but i assume it was a problem/injury to a normal eye? am i missing something? eye issues in pets is 100% an emergency so your family member was right to take this dog in right away. as for the bill, it looks pretty standard to me. the only entry i find a bit questionable would be "sedation" at $175 but even that isn't totally out of line. i have great danes. if you want to see sticker shock, i can show you a couple of e.r. visits for fairly minor issues that were double the costs here! what did the problem turn out to be and is it getting better?

    Yes, althea cannabina is a tall but 'see-through' plant which would fit very well in your garden, Dee. If only we were neighbours... I will definitely collect seed and send you some in autumn - they are fast, once they germinate, and will flower the first year. Sphaeralceas are a joy. I have s. ambigua 'Childerly...which would like to get quite large but I am ruthless with secateurs. Munroana and coccinea are smaller and a bit more mannerly. Less keen on sidalcea though - I find them a bit graceless and pink. I have also sown 2 other mallows because they are so gorgeous - corynabutilon x suntense and anisodontea julii. These are not small and dainty - have no space whatsoever (corynabutilon x suntense)

    Gardening trouble. Transplant shock or something else?

    I would get a soil analasys done. You might be having some weather stress, you might be having some watering stress. It might be transplant stress. But the yellowing can indicate a lot of things, and basil shouldn't really have a metallic residue on it. You might have a shortage of something, and also some overages can cause problems in the dirt.

    I don't want to spoil it for our West Coast friends but I think who won should have...made me happy. We can discuss it more freely tomorrow.

  • 13 years ago

    Of course I'm elated! I was surprised by the 2nd and 3rd places.....
    Happy, happy, happy!

  • 13 years ago

    I was surprised to see Sarah Palin in the audience. Just briefly, near the end.

  • 13 years ago

    I wanted the results to be in the opposite order. And why was Palin there? Spoiled the whole show.

  • 13 years ago

    "I was happy with the winners but I thought second and third place should have been switched.

    Personally, I think the first and second place teams should have been switched. I honestly think the team that came in third deserved to be in third.

    I literally gasped when Chelsea and Mark were the first to be eliminated. There was no question in my mind that Hines Ward would win from the very beginning because he has such a huge fan base. It may be the first time in all the seasons that I would not have minded a tie. I think technically, Chelsea might have had a slight edge on Hines but from an entertainment stand point, Hines had the edge. He has such a charming way about him on and off the field. That being said, I was so very impressed with Kirsty and her accomplishments. To watch her during the free-style was amazing. In my younger days I did gymnastics and at age 60, there is no way I would attempt a cartwheel or those lifts. Very scary! I thought she was fantastic. All in all, I thought it was a great season.

  • 13 years ago

    There are times that I wish they'd have 2 winners - one male and one female and this was one of them - both Hines and Chelsea could have won.

    I'm not knowledgeable at all about the technical aspects of the dances and to me it's seems easier for the woman to appear the flashier performer - the costumes, the fringe, the shimmy and all the lifts etc. combine to show off a fantastic body and it's quite eye catching.

    Kristy is a hoot - she's entertaining and a great sport. I did wonder why she always wore her hair down - it just seemed messy.

  • 13 years ago

    I was very happy Hines and his partner won. I too believe that there should be two winners..one male and one female because it seems that one year a female wins and the next year a male....I knew Hines would win because a female won last year. This is only my opinion...it doesn't mean a darn thing so don't get upset....just like I believe American Idol is fixed also....

  • 13 years ago

    I still love Kirstie! She has been amazing all season long. Hurray for 60-plus women!

  • 13 years ago

    The amazing thing is that Kirstie lost 38 inches since the beginning of the show. Bring on the ball room dancing!! It's hard to believe she's 60.

  • 13 years ago

    I was hoping Kirstie would have won, but knew Hines would take it all. I give her credit for all that she did on the dance floor for her size and age as a whole. She had a serious obstacle to overcome and major endurance and stamina to gain (which she had none of going into this). I only hope she keeps up some kind of fitness routine and all the TV/movie projects that are in the works for her, happen.

    They all did great.

  • 13 years ago

    The show was great. The finalists dances were fantastic. I would not have been able to choose a winner and really didn't have a favorite. Seeing all the dancers do a final favorite dance was interesting and many of them had really improved since they were eliminated. Chris Jerico's imitation of Bruno was so funny. What?.........a brief flash of Sarah Palin's face in the very last minutes could spoil the whole show?............I wonder if there is a medical term for that condition? LOL

    I thought 1 and 3 would have been reversed and #2 stay at #2.

  • 13 years ago

    Do I have a sick mind, or did anyone else notice how Maks could not keep his hands off of Kirsty, and the constant hugging they were doing? It seemed over the top to me. He hasn't been that touchy-feely with other partners he's had. Seemed wierd.
    I read rumors that he wouldn't be returning to the show, in order to pursue a possible acting career. I can imagine that Kirsty pursuaded him to try it. (with her connections). We'll see.

  • 13 years ago

    I am glad the Kim and Hines won but Kirsty and Max should have been 3 not second. I think it is an unfair show when the better dancers end up on the bottom. We all love kirsty and max and I was happy to see them in the final 3 but it never occurred to me that they would be second. Really unless you win, it doesn't matter what place the other two are in but the show is all about popularity and IMHO the popularity vote count is too high.....They don't have Dancers with equal popularity so it's the one who can draw the biggest public response that wins.......

    I noticed the Max Kirsty thing too....and it seemed as if he kept patting her but in an inappropriate way or their arms were wrapped around each other........

  • 13 years ago

    Chelsea was the best dancer IMO, but they all were excellent. Much harder to pick a winner than other years. Kudos to Kirstie at 60 doing a cart wheel. I couldn't do a good one at 12. As for Palin. I just could not figure why she was in the front row because she has no connection to the show. If her daughter was there..okay. It was distracting because she is so polarizing. That's why last years contest was so nasty. This year everyone was liked and there was no "throwing" the results.

  • 13 years ago

    And why would any one really care if Palin was there or not? Ruined the whole show.........Please! I'm not a supporter or even like Palin but how sick it is that comments like that one follow her .......Ruined the whole show because she was in the audience.....someone needs to get a life.

  • 13 years ago

    Kirstie got votes because people were voting for Max and that is not the one to vote for, some people never learn..

  • 13 years ago

    And Palin's reason for being there was....? Everyone else was a former contestant or family and friends of the dancers. Kelly Preston was there every week for Kirstie but this is just face time for Palin and her political agenda.

  • 13 years ago

    Are you sure it wasn't Tina Fey?

    This is the first season I've watched. Always switched it off before, but I wanted to see Kirsty at first and wound up enjoying all of them. Losing all that weight made Kirsty a winner even if they did come in second.

  • 13 years ago

    Everyone else was a former contestant or family and friends of the dancers.

    Are you kidding me? You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, do you? Tickets to audience shows are FREE, and ANYONE can ask for them. Anyone who enjoys the show.

    As for that 3 second flash of "face time" spoiling the other 59 minutes and 57 seconds, it must be just awful to be so easily distracted.

    "Kirstie got votes because people were voting for Max and that is not the one to vote for, some people never learn.."

    No, Kirstie got votes because Kirstie is a good dancer. She started out good and she got better each and every week. She deserved to be there, and in my opinion, she should have won, simply for the fact that she did improve every week and did some fantastic dances.

    And it's Maks, not Max.

  • 13 years ago

    Thank you for a bit of sanity, Tally.

    It wasn't just Sarah Palin at the show, either. Her DH was there, as was Bristol. Both were seen on the recap on GMA this morning.

    And who the frak cares??? They were in the audience - no influence on the show at all.

    Jeeze - find something more worthy of worry.

  • 13 years ago

    I was rooting for Kirstie too. I thought Chelsea was the best technical dancer, but dancing is as much entertainment and communication with the audience as it is about technique.

    I didn't notice anything particularily creepy about Max and Kirstie. I think all the contestants become close to their teachers, some are just more expressive than others.

  • 13 years ago

    I hope Maks doesn't go. This was the best year ever IMO. Any of the top three were winners in my book. In fact the whole group was good. There were no duds like in previous years.

  • 13 years ago

    As a life long Steelers fan, I'm thrilled Hines won. He seems like a very nice man on and off the football field and the dance floor. He smiles ALL the time. Very likeable guy.

    I don't think Chelsea was well known enough to have a big enough fan base, but she did a great job.

    Mad props to Kirsty. 60 and dancing ballroom on TV! Awesome. She was fab, but I really didn't think she deserved to win.

    I don't know why Palin was a problem. It was a freaking split second shot, and she had every right to be there. It was reasonable that she would be there because tons of former dancers and their families go all the time.

    Too bad they can't make it one vote per phone line, PERIOD. No online where you can have a dozen emails, no 5 calls per line, etc.

  • 13 years ago

    I also don't see the big deal about Palin being there. Anyone can be in the audience.

    I'm glad Hines won and I'm thrilled Kirsty got as far as she did. Her weight loss is just stunning. When Len first said she was 60 I didn't believe it. I had to go google it! I had no idea she was that old.

    Someone mentioned that Macks had his hands on her all the time, I thought they were both touchy-feely, but that didn't bother me. I'd love to be touched by that "long sex-on-a-stick"! LOL Did you see that little video? Hilarious!

    Someone else who did a lot of touching was Mark. He couldn't seem to not touch Chelsea's stomach, ribs all the time.

  • 13 years ago

    Ok people, if you read my OP, I simply said I was surprised to see Mrs. Palin there, because I would think she would be too busy to attend. The poster after mine, thought it ruined the show!!??

    Gees, talk about getting a life!
    It was a simple observation on my part.

  • 13 years ago

    If Maksim (Maks) doesn't come back for next season I would miss him. Maybe the producers can get Valentin (Val), Maks brother. He is just as easy on the eyes as Maks and dances so much the same. He also does choreography. Maks has skipped a few seasons when his own business had bookings already promised.
    Why is there so much upset over the touching Maks and Mark did with their partners. Wouldn't you think the prudish would have more trouble with Maks patting, cupping and grabbing Tom's tush each time he got near. Which was hysterically funny when Tom wasn't expecting it & trying to talk without showing the surprise.
    ~~~~Oh well to each their own and all that~~~~.
    I just hope next season is as good as this one was.
    We bleed black and gold in this house so needless to say, we are huge Hines Ward fans. He really did a great job, I think he deserved the win, what a charmer he is! And he is really in an all around good guy, he does much for the community and for kids.
    I was so happy for Kirstie, I think she did a great job and is a remarkable woman. I sure was shocked that Chelsea was eliminated right out of the gate. I think she was a beautiful dancer but didn't see the heart in her performances like many of the others showed.
    We never watched DWTS before, it really is an amazing transformation from week 1 to week 10. WOW, my hat is off to all the contestants!
  • 13 years ago
    I understand that Pittsburgh was having a big parade for Hines.
  • 13 years ago
    I, for one, liked the way that Maks was "touchy feely" with Kirstie. Why? Because when a woman is that age and overweight, especially when the woman is famous and used to be stunningly beautiful with a stunningly fabulous body, she would naturally have some issues with feeling a bit out of place or frumpy next to the professional female dancers and the young, thin, and cute celebrity dancers. Kirstie was doing better and better each and every week, and she was also losing weight and inches each and every week. To me, watching Maks be so "loving" towards her, it was like his confirmation to her that she should be proud of herself and her accomplishments and not feel inferior to anyone. It was an affirmation that she is still beautiful and sexy.
    I haven't heard that!
    Do you have a link?
  • 13 years ago
    "In other words, Maks was her shrink too?"
    Yep. He helped her shrink her body by at least 38 inches.
  • 13 years ago
    lol good one lindsey. I thought she looked and danced awesome. I wish I could be as gorgeous as her at 60. I hope she keeps the weight off and keeps up the exercising. Now if I could just live by my own words and lose weight, keep it off, and keep moving. ha
