I don't have many full room pics as they're tough to get (ok for me cuz I suck as a photographer perhaps?) Anyhoo, I have one deep room that's about 20x20 and one that's 20x25 in a non neutral.

This is the 20x25 dining room. The walls are Jasper with an aubergene accent and a greenish gold on the ceiling.

I'm having fun with the bold colors of the victorian era myself :) I think they suit furnishings and art so much better than soft tones, and really make a huge room look rich and cozy. I have a friend who has a huge great room in a modern house that she did in a really bold brick red. When it first started going up it was frightening LOL but when it was finished, and all of her gorgeous leather and upholstry was added....yummy :) is the best description.

Well, this isn't my room, and it's not painted, either, but at least it gives you an idea of what a non-neutral color will look like in a room of approximately the same dimensions as your own. It's the Red Room at the White House in its 1962 decor, and despite its glamourous vibe, it's only 22x30. And to complicate the matter of decorating even more, the room has two windows, a fireplace and five sets of double doors to contend with. At least they don't have to deal with the perpetual question of where to put the TV.

I like the jasper and the red. Both those rooms are grander than my farmhouse. What can I say? I do not expect to live in the White House any time soon ;( I really like that 1962 incarnation, though. Jasper (brand?) might work with my existing mossy green on green silk embroidered treatments. I've been trying to figure out how much green I can endure in a study in which I spend most of the day. Hmmm.

Kd I had it custom mixed by sherwin Williams. Do you have one nearby that I could have get the formula from my local one?

I have to say I adore the Jasper. I pulled it from a Bradbury paper we plan on using when we finish the room. I wanted to see how well it lived. It's been maybe a year? And I'm loving it as much in deep winter light as I do in the bright summer. I did It in a flat (going with the Victorian vibe). I wish you were closer because I still have about three gallons left lol (there was a miscommunication on the order). Lots of touch up I guess. The Jasper is sort of a celery, but not towards the mint tone...hard to explain but I'm sure one sw would share the recipe with another if that works to get you a sample...or i could scoop out some and send it....it's actually quite handy right now because I'm cleaning out the tower...

Let me know. I love the way this room turned out. I'm a bit of a dining room freak and I expect the colors in there to sing in candle light but also embrace you in luxury during the day. It's not the white house lol but I think it would be perfect for a farmhouse.

Ohhhh and the velvet drapes I haven't finished...they're moss green. It flows wonderfully.

Yes, I have a SW nearby--I could do Brenham or Houston, or actually, even San Marcos. I tried a sample of F&B French Gray in this same room some time ago. I'm a true F&B devotee, especially so since I'm not a fan of the texture on my walls. However, it went neon in the late afternoon, which is a rare phenomenon for any F&B color. I have SW on the walls in the study now. It's in good shape, just boring, at least to me. So, the plan is to find a color for the walls and rock crystal sconces for the flanks of a painting above the fireplace, and then call it a day. Oh, the gigantic rug in there is aubergine, greens, taupe, and a touch of indigo. Sofas are cognac leather, wood floors, trim, and four sets of French doors, is reclaimed long leaf pine from an old Louisiana textile mill. So it's a high/low mix.

kitchendetective - there is a SW in Bastrop too. Not sure where you live, but if closer to Houston/Brenham then Austin would likely be closer than San Marcos. I'm smack in the middle between all of these.

Igloo - that Jasper looks just like the color I've been picturing in my mind, but not been able to really find on a paint chip from either SW or BM. A softer green with yellow undertones without being bright and limey looking. Or maybe my monitor is just off. I might print it and see if I can have it color matched if that is how it looks when printed too.

It truely is a softer green with a bit of yellow undertones without being bright and limey looking :) It flows well with aubergene, as well as green toned golds and old golds (which I have a lot of in that room). We also have pink glass in the stained glass and it pairs without turning pastel.

DS naps at 2:30. I'll go out and see if I can take a picture of the formula for you so you c an give it to SW.

igloo - that would be much appreciated. It looks like it would go with blue as well based on the wall showing in one of the pics. Any ideas on how it would go with cleaner blues such as cobalt?

I don't have a room to show the OP. My family/living room is fairly large but in a medium gray. It's only a background for my orange couch and sunset colored art I like.

I just wanted to thank Igloo for posting her pics. I've been curious about your Victorian and absolutely loved the peek. I actually groaned at those doors and the woodwork.

I agree, alex. Wouldn't it be a dream to live in a place like that? Love it.
