kitchen/laundry room door advice

I need some suggestions......our laundry room is right beside the kitchen and there is a traditional door going into the laundry room. We took the door down because we had to shut the door everytime we wanted to get something from behind it. Doesn't sound like much of a reason to take it down but there is more. We are going to eventually build cabinets in the laundry room and we don't want to have to shut the door in order to open a cabinet door. We really wanted to put in pocket door but can't do that because one wall has light switches (also isn't as big as the door opening) and the other wall has the pantry cabinet attached to it. So....does anyone have any ideas or has anyone had this situation? Thanks for all help given.
