No contest, Haagen-Dazs. Nothing too crazy, while there are few they make I wouldn't eat, I'm great with plain chocolate, or vanilla. Even strawberry. I know, all kids flavors, not too sophisticated.

But lately I've been buying Yoplait's frozen yogurt -- the mixed berry or strawberry. It's not Yoplait's frozen Greek yogurt; I bought that by mistake, took one spoonful and nearly gagged. Way too strong.

When it gets warmer, I'm sure I'll be looking again for Ciao Bella's Blood Orange Sorbet and their key lime graham gelato. Frequently, stores will stock their single-serving size cups.

Among all choices, tho, if there's a Carvel, it's vanilla soft-serve. Dairy Queen vanilla soft-serve doesn't match Carvel, but it'll do, too!

Nothing better than Blue Bell Home Made Vanilla to me...I don't eat it often but it's the best....between the cholesterol and type 2 I just stay away from it but I do love it..

There's a local dairy called Bliss Brothers that makes a flavor called Purple Cow. It's rasberry with dark chocolate chunks. I seldom buy supermarket ice cream because I'd weigh 400 lbs.

Another Blue Bell fan here. I used to only get the Homemade Vanilla, but discovered Nut Crunch. A Blue Bell rep told me that they didn't realize how popular that flavor would be, so now have it as a year-round flavor. I know that BB is not available in all parts of the country. Too bad.

I usually share a tablespoon of ice cream with my dog when I get my dish. Once I got the store brand and put it in the dog's dish and he wouldn't eat it! So another vote (doggy) for Blue Bell.

Although whatever that raspberry chocolate brand is I'd sure love to try it. My two favorite flavors in one.

My ice cream intake is limited by geography. My favorite is Roselani's Chocolate Macadamia Nut, but I can only get it while we are on Maui. (I think it's also sold in California.)

At home I only buy Ben 'n Jerry's. DH likes the "Caramel Sutra". I like anything chocolate or coffee, but nothing with 'chunks' of supposed cookies or other unidentifiable things.

Maxmom -- Your dog knows his ice cream! I once gave our first Westie the last of my dish of pecan ice cream. It took him longer than usual to eat it. When he was finished, I saw that he'd left all the little pieces of nuts in the bottom of the dish. I don't know how he did that!

Love the Blue Bunny especially there pepermint avaiable at Christmas time. Had bits of real candy in vanilla. Love some of the maple nut we had in Vermont years ago. Homemade at different restaurants. Not much for chocolate but do like the others.

Our local meat/produce market sells a vanilla soft serve with just fresh sliced strawberries! I like all kinds of ice cream. Pumpkin is good! Glenda-does your local Dunkin Donuts sell Baskin Robbins ice cream?? All of ours do. Might be worth checking out.

Just plain chocolate here. Has to be either Blue Bunny Homemade Chocolate or Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate. I saw that Blue Bell had a flavor called Mocha Almond Fudge that I really wanted to try (even though it probably involved swirls of fudge and I'm not much for swirls or chunks of anything other than almonds), but it disappeared before I had a chance to buy any and has not reappeared. Sad to say...

They have a Blue Bell plant in the area. I took my kids there for a tour a few years back. Neat place. I buy the Blue Bell because they have stuck to their actual gallon and have raised the price instead of shrinking the carton. We love the Moollennium Crunch, but don't turn down other flavors either. I think we've got two cartons in the freezer unless the kids ate them with their friends last night.

Blue Bell!! My favorite is the Southern Blackberry Cobbler! With the Homemade Vanilla running a close second. We always have a couple of half gallons in the freezer. Our local grocery store prices it so high that most of the time we can't afford it so we only buy it when it is on sale and with coupons.

For type of ice cream I like Maple nut about the best but it varies. I also like a good vanilla or a cookies and cream.

Brands? I haven't seen it for many many years but Brown's used to be very good. Beat the foo-foo brands. But it was hard to find and I don't think it's around anymore. So I go for Blue Bunny usually if I have a choice. For soft serve, I like Sonic. Good heavy vanilla flavor. As good as DQ and a lot cheaper.

Many ice cream brands seem pretty light -- on weight, flavor and butterfat -- and taste mostly just 'sweet'. Check the weight on some of those 'gallons'; lots of air in there. I've found that if you can scoop ice cream easily right out of the freezer, it's not high quality ice cream -- or your freezer isn't very cold.

I don't eat ice cream much these days but if I have an uncontrollable need my choice is always the Starbucks brand and the Java chip Frappuccino flavor. OMG it is so good with actual big chunks of the best chocolate and wonderful coffee flavor.

Last year I purchased a Cuisinart ice cream maker. There is nothing like homemade ice cream. We have made different flavors but vanilla is our favorite.

when we lived in Oklahoma every Sunday we had big pool parties at our place. The smoker was loaded with some kind of meat but for dessert I always made some fresh fruit ice cream, they never knew what it would be so I would make them guess. It was always wonderful. I picked fresh apricots from my neighbors tree and used those a few times, it was fantastic. It and the fresh picked peach were about the best.

Hubby is fascinated with Tutti Fruitti flavor. We can't find it locally anymore. Hubs used to get it as a child. So I bought a cheap ice cream maker and make my own. I follow the recipe for vanilla ice cream but add maraschino cherries, pineapple chunks, cut up canned peaches and sliced bananas. His Hubs was very pleased with the batch I made for Memorial day.

Sudiepav and I share an ice cream gene. My absolute fav brand is Graeter's too, although my preferred flavor is vanilla chocolate chip. Next up on my list, just like Sudiepav, is Publix Chocolate Trinity.

Grater's "chip" flavors are somewhat of a misnomer, however. They should be called chocolate chunk. Graeter's also makes candy (very good candy). The size of the "chips" I've found in my ice cream look like broken chocolate bars. It's a combo chocolate and ice cream fix in one!

chisue, I agree! Ice cream just ain't what it used to be. Breyer's used to be just so wonderful before they ruined the texture and quality of their product by whipping in all that air.

Now I see that Hershey's is promoting a chocolate candy bar that's full of air bubbles. Hard to believe they'd be bragging about that.

My absolute favorite can only be purchased at Cold Stone Creamery - Sweet Cream. Alone or with mini chocolate chips and almonds and I am in heaven.

salgal- I have to agree with you about Lapp Valley Farm in Pa. When we live in CT we went to Lancaster County twice a year to visit the Amish. We found that farm when we were riding around. The ice cream could not be beat. The older Amish man told us he could wrap the ice cream for us so we could bring it back to CT & it would not thaw & he was right. Hubby has a sweet tooth so we always came back with at least 8-10 gallons.

Trader Joe's Caramel Swirl, Coffee Blast or Vanilla. I love all three. Very rich. It's actually Double Rainbow brand from San Francisco relabeled for TJ's. I'm a bit weird in that I like ice cream best in the winter. I don't care much for milk-based products in the summer. I'd rather have an ice pop or snow cone when the weather is hot.

I'll take all of the above, please. The maple nut sounds really good, but I've never seen it here. Guess I'll look now. Love black walnut, but it's hard to find, too. Those black walnuts are a hard nut to crack (as the old saying goes).

I just bought 2 pints of Ben and Jerry. One Cherry Garcia and one Vanilla Honey Caramel frozen Greek yogurt. It's delicious. Grocery had a BOGO on them.
