What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

I am sitting here craving Breyer's (or Dreyer's, depending on what part of the country you live in) Mint Chip. Their coffee flavor is my other fave.

Blue Bell makes a luscious Lemon ice cream, but I can only find it in the summer. That would be my favorite.

I'm a Breyer's Coffee fan, too.

This is refrigerated, not frozen: PINK TORTE 1 box coconut macaroon cookies 1 pint heavy whipping cream 1 can crushed pineapple, drained 2 egg whites 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup boiling water 1 pkg Jello (any red color) Crush cookies in a processor to make fine crumbs. Pour Jello into boiling water, stir until Jello is dissolved & refrigerate until partially set. Beat egg whites w/sugar until stiff. In a separate bowl, beat whipping cream until thick. Remove Jello from refrigerator & beat until foamy. combine egg whites & whipping cream. Fold in Jello until entire mixture is smooth, no lumps. (This will be the pink mixture). Grease bottom & sides of a springform pan (or you can use a 9x13" pan.) Sprinkle 1/3 of the cookie crumbs on the bottom & sides of the pan. Pour in 1/2 of hte pink mixture. Sprinkle with 1/3 of the macaroon crumbs, then layer all of the pineapple & then the remaining pink mixture. Finish topping with the last of the cookie crums. Refrigerate overnight.~~Kitchen Miracles HEATH BAR ICE CREAM PIE (make day before) - Serves 12 1 1/4 cups chocolate wafer crumbs 1/4 cup butter, mleted 12 (about 12 oz) Heath bars, refrigerated to harden 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream, softened Mix chocolate wafer crumbs with 1/3 cup butter, mleted. Line 9x13" pan with crumb mixture. Pat down & refrigerate until firm. crush hardened Heat bars but placing unwrapped candy in a plastic bag & hitting with rolling pin or saucepan bottom. Mix w/softened ice cream. Put in crust & freeze overnight. Serve with warmed sauce. SAUCE: 1/4 cup butter 6 oz pkg chocolate chips 1 cup confectioners' sugar 6 1/2 oz evaporated milk (like Pet milk) 1 tsp vanilla Melt butter w/chocolate chips in top of double boiler. Add confectioners' sugar & evaporated milk. Cook 8 minutes or until thickened. Ad vanilla. Serve sauce warm over pie.~~Pass the Plate CHRISTMAS TRIFLE (serve 8-10) 12 ladyfingers, sponge cake pieces or pieces of yellow cake 4 TBL rum, sherry or brandy 1/2 cup raspberry jam 1/2 cup slivered almonds 1 large pkg vanilla pudding (NOT the instant type) 1 cup heavy cream, whipped Place ladyfingers in 1 layer in a glass bowl. sparinkle with rum. Cover with a thin layer of jam & slivered almonds, reserving a few almonds for topping. Prepare pudding according to pkg directions, cool & spread in an even layer over almonds. Spread whipped cream over pudding & sprinkle reserved almonds over top. Chill a few hours. To serve, cut straight down through all layers for each serving.~~Bound to Please

Do you have a smoke/carbon monoxide detector in every room? ~ Smoke detectors on every floor, carbon monoxide only on the first floor. If you have to hand-wash dishes, do you wear gloves? ~ I bought them when my hand was healing after surgery, and decided I should keep using them . . . but no.

From time to time I've seen little specialty genuine Italian ice places open up but they usually don't stay in business long. The price is too high and too much competition from the cheapo soft serve and other places. Not enough Italian ice connoisseurs out there and not spread around the US. I'm sure there are some places but none near my radar screen. It's hard enough nowdays just to get a good hard ice cream cone or even some at the grocery. A couple of our famous and delicious local and regional dairies have shut down, long prior to the pandemic so the supply even at the grocery store is limited to a few brands and the same at every store. Back in the day a lot of small towns had local ice cream dairies, including mine, and then two ice cream shops that sold it in many confections. Those day long gone, sigh . . . My aunt met my uncle when he was on a road trip from a nearby college, at our local home town place, long lost to the mists of time. I used to ride my bike out to another regional dairy store and get a wonderful cone as a fun way to spend time and allowance during the summer. That too is gone . . . We do have a drive through Dairy Queen that does a brisk business . . .

Here is my recipe for French vanilla ice cream: 1 cup whole milk 3/4 cup sugar 2 cups heavy cream, divided 1 vanilla bean split lengthwise, about 6” long 4 egg yolks plus 1 whole egg 1 tsp vanilla extract (can substitute a liqueur) Combine the milk, sugar, and one-half cup of the cream in a medium saucepan. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean into the pan and drop in the vanilla pod. Heat over medium-high, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is warmed through. Remove the pan from the heat, cover, and let the mixture steep for 30 minutes. Pour one cup of cream into a bowl and set a fine mesh sieve over the top. In a separate medium bowl, whisk the egg yolks and egg with 1/2 cup cream until smooth. Slowly pour the warm milk mixture into the bowl with the egg yolks, whisking constantly. Return the entire mixture to the saucepan and place over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly and scraping the bottom of the pan, until the mixture thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon (about 170˚-175˚ F–77°-80° C). Pour the custard through the mesh strainer into the bowl with the cream, removing the vanilla bean. Stir in the vanilla. Let cool slightly, then cover top surface with plastic wrap and refrigerate until completely chilled. Freeze in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you want a different flavor, omit the vanilla bean and vanilla extract. I always add a liqueur to my ice cream to make it easier to scoop, generally one or two Tablespoons, depending on how soft I want it. I use Cointreau in strawberry ice cream, but if I am making vanilla, I add Frangelico or Amaretto. If I am making chocolate, I may add chocolate liqueur, Kahlua, coffee liqueur (mine is from New Orleans), or any nut liqueur. In addition to Frangelico and Amaretto, I also have Noce, walnut, pecan, and Cassis liqueurs. I would never add vodka to ice cream, although it would make the ice cream softer. I generally add the liqueur to the freezer when it is about half way through freezing. *Note: I never add salt to any ice cream that I make, not even a pinch. If using a bitter chocolate, I might add a pinch, but usually I do not, and I prefer it without.

I like the grocery store brand of Triple Vanilla. I can eat it plain or doctor it up with different toppings or fruit preserves.

At my local ice cream shop my favorite is Black Raspberry Marble.

My favorite out of town ice cream is Marianne's Spumoni. It's a white spumoni, not that multi-colored bright green,pink and brown neopolitan style stuff.

I like lemon chiffon ice cream when I can find it. Also peach but it has to be made from peaches. Most peach ice cream has nectarine puree in it.

Has to be either Turkey Hill or Friendly's--I've gotten so picky about ice cream over the years--LOL. If I try another brand (and I have chanced some that have good reps like Blue Bunny, etc over the years), I end up throwing out 3/4 of the container.

Flavors? Butter crunch, peanut butter swirl, cookies and cream, even vanilla. And some of the limited time special flavors like Strawberry Cheesecake or Lemon Meringue pie

Target carries an exclusive Ben and Jerry's flavor that is amazingly addictive. It's called "Peanut Butter World" and it is chocolate ice cream with swirls of peanut butter and chocolate cookies. The cookie swirls add a really nice texture with the salty peanut butter...it's awesome and my choice when I'm looking for a treat.

Blue Bell Butter Crunch. Never have seen Mexican Praline. Sounds like that might be great, too. Butter Crunch was only supposed to be a summer flavor, a BB employee told me, and they never expected it to be such a hit - so now I can get it anytime. Yippee!

I can rarely find outside of this area, but Butter Brickle by a landslide.
If you ever get to Lancaster County PA and can get to Lapp Valley Farm...oh my.

A local dairy makes an ice cream called Purple Cow that is to die for. It's black rasberry with dark chocolate and white chocolate chips. Yumm.

Ooooh, Wildchild! I haven't seen black raspberry swirl ice cream for years. It was my favorite when I was a kid. Fran1523's purple cow sounds delicious, too.

This time of year I like peppermint stick ice cream. Doesn't matter what brand. I also like black walnut, eggnog and coffee.

Sure wish I had some right now!
