Has anyone done so who can recommend an online supplier? I have a new prescription and am checking around for prices.

We have used 1800contacts.com with no problems.

I wear Acuvue Oasys & bought mine from lens.com. I did a lot of comparison shopping on line & their's was the best price. My eye dr. told me that if I could find them for (I think it was) less than $25/box that was cheaper than his price & to go for it. He said the product is the same where ever you buy it, so no concerns that you're getting inferior quality.

Also recommend that you google for a coupon... it may get you free shipping or $'s off. That's what helped get the price down for me. It's been several months ago, but I think I paid $19.99/box, but I can't swear to that. I faxed them the Rx & it all went quite smoothly.

The relative proximity to me of the vendor has very little to do with how responsive a vendor is towards issues that may crop up. I would have never ventured out into cyber markets had my local appliance vendors been consistantly reliable, knowledgeable, helpful and attentive to my requirements. I find the vendors I discovered on-line were much more likely to have an in-depth knowledge of their goods than that of my local guys. As for warranteed service, almost everyone in my city uses the same independent service provider. There are over 1 million folks in my metro area, and I only know of one appliance shop here that does their own service work (and not too well I might add). I will not pay more for the same goods and lesser service simply to buy locally. Appliances are a commodity item. The same make and model is the same throughout the US. I see no extra risk when buying through the web - as long as you research the vendor properly. Indeed, you may have more protections regarding shipping when you buy online and pay by credit card. Common carriers move goods cross-country every day and, most times, deliver them without damage. But, if upon inspection, there is a problem, you make a claim. It's why they have insurance. I am truly sorry the OP has suffered this setback. But, buying locally would not have helped her situation if the cooktop was not inspected until many days after the return period had expired. os = oculus sinister od = oculus dexter oculus = eye in Latin sinister = left in Latin dexter = right in Latin With rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses, three things affect whether lenses can be interchanged: correction for each eye, shape of each eye and how well the lenses fit. Over the course of 39 years of wearing contacts, there have been times when the correction and shape were so similar that I couldn't tell if I had reversed the lenses. Other times it was very obvious that I had reversed them because either the correction was "off" or there was physical discomfort because the shape of the eyes was significantly different. I also had one lens that fit so poorly that I kept thinking that I must have reversed the lenses. (I finally had it replaced.) At each exam and fitting, get your eye doctor to explain in non-medical terms what is going on with the eyes. If s/he can't or won't do this, it's time to find someone else.

I've been wearing progressives for many years and like them, except for the price, even with insurance-lol. Yes, things are blurry on the sides as that is normal. Unfortunately, progressives give you very small area of perfect vision and that is looking straight on. And if your eye measurements were done correctly, you won't have to move your head up or down to find that sweet spot when looking straight at something. If you opt for small frames, your perfect vision straight on will be MUCH less than with larger frames b/c obviously they don't have as much room with work with. It does take a bit of time to adjust, but, everyday you wear them, you will get comfortable. It took me a few minutes to adjust to my first pair of progressives (I had been wearing glasses since age 8, now 55). Stores like LensCrafters, Vision Works, and the like generally don't sell the better progressive lenses so I don't go there. My sis has worked in this field for 15+ years and that's what she told me. After doing some research, I found that to be true.

I go to a local optimistic. I do order my contacts through them. I didn't end up needing any adjustments for my zenni glasses. I've had glasses adjusted at other eye places. The one told me if they accidentally break they weren't responsible. Thankfully that didn't happen. A friend took her glasses (bought locally) to a different place and they adjusted hers too. Yeah the pd won't be on the glasses. That's dimensions for the frame I believe- there's info about that on zenni too. I had to ask for my prescription and for them to give me my pd. I could tell they weren't thrilled but they did it anyhow. The same place gave Dh a hard time about the pd. Well, front desk girl did. But like I said it's easy to find it out yourself.

Check out Coastal Contacts, also. Google them and you will most likely find a coupon, too. I've used them 2-3 times to order contacts for my daughter. No problem and fast delivery.

Okay I think lens.com is the best deal for me. Coupons were only valid for a larger $ amount that I need to purchase but even with shipping $25 less than my local optical shop. Coastal didn't have the particular lens I want and 1800 was about $20 more than local shop. I didn't check for coupons on that one though - since it was so much more than lens.com.

I also use Coastal Contacts. Great service and delivery. First time I used them was about 8 years ago, at that time you didn't pay for the contacts until they arrived and you approved them. Noticed they had changed the policy the last time I ordered. Bet lots of folks took advantage of their policy. I wear the Boston iv and some of the lens companies do not carry the ones I wear.
