Lily, I would play with you too! Maybe you can find a source of games in your community. A venue in my area has Game Night once a month, attended by people of all ages. Some of the games look rather intense and seem to require a lot of thought (Pandemic is one), but I've played lighter games there with a friend. If you're close to my age you could probably find games at a local senior center. You could also poll your friends to see if there's any interest. Who knows--some may be silently yearning for a fun game. Fran, I was thinking about bridge recently. I haven't played since the 1960's, but I'd be willing to read up on it and see if I could join a group. However, I remember my husband was not thrilled with my bridge playing. He was a serious duplicate bridge player, and I like to chat while I play. Chances are the local groups would feel the same way my husband did about my playing style. LOL Foggy, I looked up Telestrations, and it sounds like great fun. But I wonder if the two artists in my group would spoil some of the fun. They are very good. Thank you for speaking up, Roarah. I agree that when we are faced with a health situation, we need to question our options carefully. I think of my friend who developed an excruciatingly painful blood clot in her leg a week before her due date. The medical professional she was working with was ready to prescribe her a blood thinner. Thankfully, my friend was able to think this one through and realized that she could have bled out during delivery. She was able to advocate for a better, safer option for dealing with the problem. It seems like it shouldn't have the patient that has to question everything, but sometimes that is what it takes to find a healthy, workable solution. I feel like I ought to give a disclaimer, saying that I don't agree with everything as it is presented in this series, such as the idea that all oncologists are simply motivated by money. I think many people go into the medical field because they sincerely want to help people, and they are using the tools that they have been taught about in medical school. Cancer is a situation that needs to be met with a lot of realism for sure. The options for treating it are fraught with difficulties, and also high rates of reoccurrence, whether "natural" or "allopathic". (Speaking from personal experience with friends and loved ones, here.) There are no easy answers. We have lost multiple loved ones to cancer. We also have a friend who was recently healed. I would like to ask her permission before sharing her story here. I do a daily cryptic crossword with my morning coffee. The constructors are English, so I have had to learn some of the “tricks” of English cryptics (like when the clue mentions the Queen, they mean the letters ER, for Elizabeth Regina, will appear in the answer). and am learning terms about cricket!
