I have been canning, peaches, tomatoes, pears, and jam. We also started school this week, that will be my focus for a while until we get our schedule down pat. It takes a few weeks. We have a wedding today for a couple in our fellowship so my daughters have been gone the last two days helping them get ready.
That's about it. Not much sewing because I have to make some curtains and I'm not motivated.

I am at one of those points where i dont know what i want to do - although i am always doing something!!! I drive for Cornwall Centre for Volunteers delivering children who are in foster care to their schools, taking abused mothers to their counsellors etc. etc.
The Me quilt September panel has not been started, cant decide what to do - i am quite new to patchwork - i attend a group once a week on a Monday, but the tutor is always too busy starting on new projects - so i am trying to teach myself more - tried paper piecing this week but cant seem to get on with it, never mind will keep trying.

Working on getting some scraps used in tops. I have a Christmas quilt to do but haven't got the fabric yet. Thinking about Christmas quilted gifts-have 3 partially completed tops done as presents.Still working in the garden-- weeding, cleaning up and enjoying being outdoors while the days are still nice. It's sunny and cooler-fall is my favorite season. Busy,busy,busy!!

I'm finishing UFOs this week. Got my "Pretty in Pink" project done FINALLY--will post pictures next week (we're going to be gone most of the weekend.) Also quilted some wallhangings for my second cousin and finished the last custom quilting job in my queue (YEE HAW!!!!) Next week, I'll be getting ready for a big sewing machine collectors' gathering in Lake City, MN where I'll be demo-ing a lot of stuff, plus working the reference table. CAN'T wait. With luck, I'll find time to work on my blocks for the "About Me" quilt, too.

School is in full swing for me ... back to school night this week - papers to grade from all 6 classes I teach!
DS graduated from college in May and starts his "real" job in Oct. but has moved home so he "we" are trying to find room for all his stuff after living away for 4years!! (He worked at summer camp for kids with disabilities &leaves again in Oct for 2-3 months training so doesn't make sense to continue renting when he won't be there).

Meanwhile ... trying to participate in a couple lotto exchanges & birthday blocks. Local quilt group starts up again this week so am anxious to see everyone - we take off June/July/Aug.
Am also working on borders for queen-size quilt.
I am also trying to find time to go "test-drive" some long-arm quilting machines & frames. DH said go ahead (within $$ reason) but not sure where to start!

It's been a strange summer/early fall in Colorado & my tomatoes and raspberries are JUST starting to get ripe! Eating both as fast as they come on so haven't had to deal with canning/freezing yet!

I've been canning for weeks. Done it so many years, I just knock off a batch or two a day and the canning stuff stays out in the open within reach. As I can fruit, I also make pies and some pies to freeze so I have handy 'emergency' deserts. Today it's salsas and apples. Yesterday it was peaches and pumpkin. I am just thankful for the bounty from our fruits this year.

Of course I am going through quilting withdrawal, so I sneak up to the sewing room for an hour or two a day if I can. I can't do this most days until late at night, when I should be sleeping.

I am finishing off some patchwork pillowcases I am making in the rail fence pattern. Not pillows or occasional pillow covers, but pillow cases. Why not? They'd make a really neat statement on a bed with plain sheets. I wanted to see how they'd translate into everyday linens. If I like them, I plan to trim some plain sheets with patchwork at the top, make pillow slips to match and use them for Christmas presents. That'll hold the group whom I haven't gotten quilts done for.

I finished my god-daughter's graduation quilt last night! I still have the accessory pieces (pillow & fabric bowl) to make but I feel close to done with it. Pictures will be posted tomorrow, I hope. Then I'll just have 2 projects left to finish: New curtains for the guest room and that never-ending quilt for my great nephew.

Today we're tearing out wallpaper from one bathroom in preparation for painting. Jim is doing that. At the same time I'm painting the little hallway by the guest bathroom. Right about now the pool sure looks tempting...

Outside the house, it's all been work work work. New training projects and a new regional hub make for lots of hours at the computer outside regular work hours.

And through it all we are watching the weather channel for news of the hurricanes and tropical storms. Ike is scaring me...

I've been working on a Halloween wall hanging as well as that yo-yo Christmas wall hanging. I actually make the 79 yo-yo's. Going to sign up for a jewelry making course at the community college and trying to avoid the infestation of mosquitoes from all the rain we've had this year. Also been doing doing a little traveling in the RV.

I just took bran muffins out of the oven. Can you
smell them? One batch has walnuts and raspberry
chocolate chips in and the other has dates and
pecans. We went to an auction sale today.Didn't buy
anything. We finally got some rain on Thursday so
on Friday I spent some time in the flowerbeds cleaning
up. Will work more on that tomorrow after church. This
morning I put binding on two pumpkin wall hangings.

I have my boys back in school. I'm still working in my garden, harvesting more tomatoes than me and two neighbors can eat.
I have the first three rows of my Apple Core sewn together (one of my points was perfect!) and putting together the fourth row. I take a break from it to iron up a little black square for the Cathedral Windows every so often, and toss them into the storage chest for later.

Tue. I got my sewing machine back from the service man and decided to rearrange the sewing areas so both machines could be up. Worked on my Sept. "Just for me" block (it's a challenge for me), finished the 'stacked 4patch' blocks and need to plan the lay out for them. Shopped for more fabric for my 'Very Hungry Catapiller' top. Can't start that until I finish some of the other things I have started. Have several BD to plan for now, started with my 88 yr. old Step-mom today, tomorrow we will celebate my youngest daughter's, so have to make a cheesecake for her and plan dinner for who knows how many. They never tell me, just drop in! Then DSIL,wedding anni.. Next mo. is evern worse. Start bowling on Mon. Ofcourse the garden is telling me, "it's time" to stop eating and start freezing. Doesn't sound as impressive as the younger group. I have out grown some activities. Jayne

Seems like I have been vacationing a lot and neglecting all the stuff that needs to be done. I went for a hike today before I went to work. We had planned to kayak but there was rain in the forecast. I am trying to get my scrapbooking done from a trip last summer so I can start working on a quilt and also my name block for My Own Quilt.

My family has lots of bdays in the fall- seven in about 6 weeks. Always something on the to do list.

Would really go for one of the muffins that mayme is making. My husband wants to make muffins for a work gathering Wednesday and he wanted to make the ones with the seeds in them. I just couldn't figure out what he was talking about and eventually it dawned on me poppy seed muffins.He actually had me convinced that it was sesame seed :( He then got the idea that he wants to make the really big muffins and even wanted to go buy a pan for it.
It will be interesting to see if he finds one as we only have walmart and kmart.
