Truly hands-free garbage disposer?
Comments (12)If you choose one of the higher hp continuous-feed disposals, you'll also get a much larger grind chamber. A 1-hp Insinkerator has a grind chamber that is more than twice as large as a 1/3-hp model, allowing you to push more into the disposal at any one time. The higher hp models also have better sound insulation, so they're quieter in operation. In addition, with Insinkerator you get an all stainless steel grind chamber and stainless grind components in the 1-hp model, which are much more durable than the plastic or ordinary steel parts in the lower hp models. I have the 1-hp Insinkerator and find that it's so powerful that it will pull most food scraps into the grind chamber on its own, as long as the water is running and the scraps make it as far as the drain opening. It also grinds scraps into smaller particles which allows them to more readily flow through drain lines. While the batch feed models enjoy the advantages mentioned above, if you want to consider one of those, you'll need to plan for one, or ensure that your plumbing is set up to be compatible. The batch feed models have a much deeper throat and usually extend below the sink basin further than the continuous feed models. That being the case, you need to be sure that your drain line exits the under-sink wall at a point that will be lower than the bottom of the grind chamber. If it's not, you'll have water constantly standing in the bottom of the disposer which will shorten the life of the machine, and could result in food debris remaining in the disposer after it stops running. If left there for a number of hours or days, that could lead to unpleasant odors -- or worse....See More$ 70 Blanco Performa Silgranit II 1.75 Free shipping
Comments (40)Well ladies, the too good to be true price really was too good to be true. My shipment arrived today. A flat package that weighed 2 lbs. Yeah, it's a Blanco stainless steel 2.0 sink grid. This grid wouldn't even fit the 1.75 sink I ordered. Anyway, I immediately called and, although they were very nice, the bottom line is they offered me the $460 something sink for about $350 claiming that was the wholesale, zero profit margin, price for them. I said no thank you. They are processing a full refund and told me I can keep the sink grid to not have to go to the hassle of returning it. The customer service rep tried to be helpful, and when I questioned why they wouldn't honor their price, she sent me over to a customer service manager. He was also very nice, but wouldn't sell me the sink for $70. I'm not too upset as the sink was for our basement remodel that we haven't even started yet. I jumped on the price because it was an amazing deal. My first purchase from Wayfair. Browsing through their website, I think their prices are more expensive than other places on the web, so I probably won't make any other purchases there. For all of you who ordered the sink, be prepared to call and get a refund, because you won't be getting a sink. And if by some chance someone DOES get a sink, please let us all know so we can get the same deal. Thanks MMM for telling us about it. No hard feelings there - I was happy to try for the deal!...See MoreWhere do you place the faucet in a 1 and 3/4 sink?
Comments (8)Thanks for the input. I'm scouring the interwebs for photos and it is surprising how many images have no faucets shown at all. It looks like people with the 1 3/4 either put the faucet in the center of the overall width or at the divide. I'm thinking the divide would work best. Then the soap could go to the left in the center of the large bowl? Not sure of the spacing, but I don't use the soap on the veggies, so the left make sense to me, too. Maybe the filtered water dispenser centered on the smaller bowl? Or should it be off to the corner? I'm sure this is one of the 99 million decisions I will not think about after it's made. Well, unless I screw it up, of course! I don't think these come with holes, do they? Or do they have those punch-out areas, I'm not sure what they're called....See MoreAnyone Have a 1 3/4 Sink?
Comments (15)When I was on a mission to "find" my sink I read through dozens of posts here on GW. They were so helpful! One thing I realize is that we all have different styles of doing dishes and different expectations. Some people are lucky enough to have several sink stations and others, like me, have to depend on only one. I was happy to learn of so many different styles of sinks outside of the Big Box store selections. I have been bragging up my silgranit purchase to friends that didn't know there were other options for buying a kitchen sink other than the Big Box or specialty plumbing stores. I do find it humorous that I have now purchased "the kitchen sink" through the internet. Now if I could only be patient and wait one more week for the install!...See Morecathy725
