What are the dimensions of the basins? Is one of the basins wide enough to fit your largest pan into it? My main concern in shopping for a sink is that our 21" roasting pan fit into one of the basins. The 30" single bowl sinks are beautiful, but I don't think I could get used to not having a second basin, for rinsing dishes or washing vegetables, etc.

How about the Franke with the reomovable second bowl?

The Oceana OXX110 has an accessory that is a removable second bowl. So does the Orca, although i don't like that it is black and doen't match the sink.

I have an Elkay 1 3/4 and also an Elkay single sink in my kosher kitchen. I really like the 1 3/4; it is a terrific sink for handwashing dishes. I fill the larger basin with soapy water and the small basin with clear water for rinsing. I love not needing a plastic dish basin insert. The large basin holds an impressive amount of dishes and everything fits except my broiler pan (it fits but not flat). I wash cookie sheets on the counter rather than in the sink.

I only wish that my second sink -- the single -- was also a 1 3/4. The single sink takes far too long to fill and and is harder to clean because it doesn't angle as much toward the drain.

I ordered the Blanco 1 3/4 precision sink. It should be installed next week. I thought about going with a one basin sink until the salesperson brought up the fact that if you have the sink full of soapy water and you need to dump something down the drain you can't. Imagining that gave me a weird claustrophobic feeling :)

I would have gone with a one basin if I had another sink in the kitchen like a bar sink.

I just got my blanco 1 3/4 silgranit, but it won't be installed until my granite gets here (next Thursday). I seriously dislike my current stainless steel and did not want a traditional double bowl, with both sides being too small to handle the "big stuff."

I ordered it from homeclick because it was in stock, at a savings, with no shipping fee. I also ordered the additonal grids and a cutting board since they would have had a shipping fee if I ordered them seperately or later on down the line. I can't wait for the install.

Like organic sprite I thought of ordering a single bowl, which I have used for years at our lake cabin. But the home sink gets more use and having that extra side with the garbage disposal is important to me. I also only have one kitchen sink, so I hope I love the blanco out of the box as much as I am loving it right now. Okay, off I go to pet it some more!

I have the blanco 1 3/4 silgranit, it's a dream. My disposal is on the smaller side, so I wash in the big side while the family dumps their gunk into the other side. I've had it 3 weeks now, so I haven't cooked a turkey or used any huge pans, but it's big enough for my "regular" stuff. And, it hides the dishes I don't have time to wash because it's nice and deep. Finally, the 6 month old likes it as a bathtub!

It was hard to tell from your photo link, but I think what I have is considered a 1-3/4 or 1-1/2 - not sure. The biggest sink in mine is plenty deep to immerse stuff, and has plenty of room to soak stuff too. I love mine - stainless steel. The disposal is in the smaller sink, which for me is perfect.

I am a bit different than the rest of you. I want the disposal in the big side of the sink. I use the smaller side to hold a dish drying rack. I love it that it is not on the countertop visually cluttering up the kitchen. I do most dishes in the dishwasher, but there are always things that need to be hand washed.

When I was on a mission to "find" my sink I read through dozens of posts here on GW. They were so helpful! One thing I realize is that we all have different styles of doing dishes and different expectations. Some people are lucky enough to have several sink stations and others, like me, have to depend on only one.

I was happy to learn of so many different styles of sinks outside of the Big Box store selections. I have been bragging up my silgranit purchase to friends that didn't know there were other options for buying a kitchen sink other than the Big Box or specialty plumbing stores. I do find it humorous that I have now purchased "the kitchen sink" through the internet. Now if I could only be patient and wait one more week for the install!

I have the Blanco Silgranit 1-3/4 sink and love it! Got it from eBay HomeandStone, great deal, great service. I've only been using it a few days (just got our kitchen semi-functional on Mon.), but I love the deep larger bowl. We put the disposal on the large side so when we do dishes on that side any food waste will go down the disposal. Working great so far! But it is such a personal preference, think about how you prefer to do dishes. Good Luck!

Mine is more the size of Donna's ... 1 1/2 bowls. The bigger bowl is 18 3/4 x 18 1/4 and 10" deep. I'm able to wash big pots with no problem. I keep a dish drainer in the smaller bowl for those things I hand wash. We compost, so I don't need a garbage disposal.

For 5 yrs I had a 1 3/4 Elkay and I loved it. I am just starting to use a large 27X20 single and so far I miss the double. I have a smaller kit now and didn't want to take the extra counter space this time.

sue_ct, I think I am going to be able to get the single the single sink that I had originally planned on.
