Please share Kraftmaid wood valance pics

Hi all,

Now that we've seen (most) of our cabinets installed, we've decided we need to install a valance piece to make the cabinets on either side of the window look a little more integrated with the moulding. Now we just have to pick a style, and I'm having a terrible time finding pictures beyond the sketches in the catalog.

Does anyone have Kraftmaid valance pictures (whether over windows, under ranges, cabinets, etc.) they could share, with the style? We're thinking about the traditional or shaker valance styles, but would be interested in seeing others as well. Thanks oodles in advance! --Carrie

I thought I had a good picture of a window without valance, but maybe with this combination, you can get an idea. I don't think it looks weird at all.

Thanks! I'm not saying windows without valances look weird generally, they look very nice, as in your kitchen. our particular situation involves a soffit and moulding that makes kind of an odd angle, so we need a valance to cover it.

I don't want to turn this thread into a discussion of the merits of valances versus no valances. We have already decided to definitely install one, I was just hoping to see some other folks' examples. Cheers, Carrie

Hi there, We have a similarly sized room with 10' ceilings.... our beams are 6" high and I am very happy with that dimension -- about 8" wide. Here is a picture of how they look in our room --- this picture came out dark (such a dreary day), but hopefully you get the idea! So, my opinion about your set-up.... I think the header solves the beams just in the family room question....it will make it look cozy! I think you should use the partial beam on the ends to make it look like it is a more structural component. Post pics when you are done!

Glenda, you are so right. That spring green through your pretty window does lift one's spirits. Oldgardner, love those spoons...and the kitty on your sill. No spring green in the trees yet this far north, but the grass sure is green. The buds in the crabapples are a few days from opening, but I have hope that the frost that is predicted for tonight won't hurt them.

Thought you might like to look at the one below. It's contemporary and the lower legs accommodate the pillow mattress and yet he'll still have a wonderfully comfy headboard that he can lean against. Please excuse the missing backsplash tile, this butcher block was just installed today. Also, note the edge is not yet put on the side of the BB so it is not quite finished. GC made it from scratch alternating 2 strips maple with 1 strip mahagony. Our upper island countertop and perimeter countertop is all New Venetian Gold granite. It is Day 1 and so far I like the way the Butcher block came out :)....GC encourages me to "go ahead and cut right on it! It can be refinished!" I dont know if I will ever be able to do that but DH will and we can get it refinished in a few years if it get cut marks in it... Sorry that the pics are small--I am not proficient in resizing :(

Hi my cabinets are Schuler, not Kraftmaid, but I thought this would give you an idea of what a Shaker valance would look like.

Doraville, Are you happy with your Kraftmaid cabinets. We had been swinging toward custom made, but Kraftmaid through Lowes has a gorgeous cabinet style that would cost a fortune if made custom. My hesitation has been the quality of a premade cabinet. Any advice?
