I strained both my ankles, at different times. One is particularly weak. I wore the same brace that Glenda posted.

I used it when I had to walk across O'Hare Airport and when I did sight seeing while on a vacation.

This is timely for me! I broke my ankle recently and will be walking again soon. I spent a bit of time this weekend researching braces, as I think I'll need something for support and to help with swelling. This looks like just the ticket. Thanks!

Guess what? I wore a brace, and it weakened my ankle further. That's right. It got worse. My physical therapist said throw that thing away! when he heard I was wearing it. Exercises, directed towards strengthening an ankle are far better for making you walk more solidly. He was right, drat!

In 1990, I broke my ankle and it was also badly sprained. At times, it bothers me...and that's when I wear the kind of brace that Glenda wears. I only need it a couple of times a year, or when I will be doing a lot of walking on uneven ground.

I read the title as "ankle bracelet," meaning the thing they put on some convicted people. Glad that's not the case for you. :)

Sjerin, too funny. I thought exactly the same thing.

When I broke my ankle and later rolled it (wow does that hurt), the doctor gave me a brace like this. One time I got an inflatable one and another time it was rigid, not inflatable. I find that the elastic ones tend to cut off blood flow.

dedtired I have the aircast too, after breaking my ankle many years ago.
The tendons are weak and I have rolled it several times. This little gem has been a lifesaver in keeping me upright and walking. It also keeps the swelling down.
I only wear it if I have pain after re-injuring.

You should check either with your Dr. or Foot Dr. They will tell you about braces and if they prescribe exercises, sometimes the insurance will pay for it. A brace could do more harm than good at times.

If you've had air casts and it's weak after, certainly go see the doctor. Rehab is necessary and insurance pays for it (I speak from a place of personal experience). And it's why I posted what I did earlier. Best of luck healing!
