Online Rip-off

I won't mention the name of the online fabric shop. I am really disappointed. I ordered fabric for the backing for a quilt on July 28. I was waiting on it to get it to the quilters. I've emailed twice and called last Friday (and again today). The lady that answered said another lady took care of the orders and would only be in at certain times of the day. I can't get ahold of them. I calling my credit card company tonight to make sure nothing has been charged to my card and there are no other surprises on that card. Why can't people be honest! I won't do business with them or recommend them ever! Has anyone else had terrible experiences with online shops? this is a 1st for me.

We've had this discussion before and there were a few people who had experienced problems but as I recall most people had great luck with on line orders. I've been buying fabric on line for years and have never had a problem.

If you've had a problem, why not share with us which company it was so we can be cautious about ordering from them too?

This is a very old post but I want to correct the misinformation in the last post. Spring flowering bulbs will, and need to, start rooting as soon as you plant them. It makes no sense to say that they don't grow roots until February. Some will already be flowering by then. You plant them in the Autumn because there is still residual warmth in the ground which gets them started. If that were not the case you'd be planting them in the Spring. They cannot 'winter over the first year' if they don't have roots. They'd just rot. If you dig up a well established daffodil in September you'll see that it is already growing roots. 4 of Bud's plants were spring bloomers, one was a summer bloomer and one wasn't a bulb at all. It's also not true that 'everyone needs to dig up and divide at least every 3 years.' You can divide them if they need it. But it is not a hard and fast rule.

"the owner swore he bought it new in 2007" Who knows? Maybe he did. While it would be a very rare thing for a Sears store to still have a 2002 tractor sitting around for five years, I suppose that it's not out of the realm of possibility. Sears does have huge distribution warehouses as well and maybe some items get misplaced. As such, it could be that he picked up a non-current tractor for a smokin' deal price in 2007. If I were you, I'd forget about it and just move on. The time to check it out was before you handed over the cash. If the year of the tractor was that important to you, then you should have insisted that he provide you with a bill of sale stating that he was selling you a 2007 tractor bearing serial number such and such. Only then, would have a reasonable expectation of success at trial. What really matters here is condition. If this is truly a super low hour 2002, then it will last you just as long as a 2007 with the same hours on it. And when you go to sell it five to seven years from now, overall condition will determine its value more so than the year.

Randy, back when we used Netflix, the 2 times that a movie wasn't delivered was when we had our mail held while we were away. Apparently while holding it, they helped themselves. Last Christmas, I was sent a package from out of the country. It couldn't have been better packed, yet the USPS beat the heck out of it and broke the contents. Unfortunately, it wasn't insured, which they probably would've given me the run around about, anyway. I personally like UPS better. Julie

I feel your pain with the cost of lighting and I hope this may help a bit. I just ordered from lightingdirect.com but in the past used Bellacor for our exterior lights. I switched to Lighting Direct because they offer coupon matching as well as price matching. I shopped around for the bathroom light I wanted - wound up to be $318 everywhere. I found a 10% off coupon from a competitor, asked LD if they would match and they sent me this link: http://www.lightingdirect.com/index.cfm/page/browse:category/categoryID/8283?intcmp=smlsplshcompcoupq109#homepage_ad Instead of the 10% I wanted, they had a 16% coupon listed that I used. 16 is a goofy number but it saved me $50. They also had free shipping and (from what I could see) no restocking fee. Now, I just ordered so I'm not sure about their shipping times or communication about back orders. Katrine822

I order on line frequently and have had a couple of problems with back orders but they have always shown up evenutally. The people have usually been pleasent and have called with regards to the problems.
If I weren't satified I wouldn't continue with them and would let them know why. Jayne

Well, with no information, I don't see how we can help.

I really don't understand you not wanting to "out" a bad vendor if you have done everything to resolve the problem.

I understand your reticence to make known the online shop you're having difficulty with; after all, it may just be an isolated incident. However, I think I am in agreement with the majority here when I say that we could all benefit from your experience and can make effective decisions for the future by knowing which shop is having the difficulties.

I agree with contacting your credit card company. And I would suggest one last call to the vendor. Explain to them that you have called "x" times and are not happy with the explanations you have been given as to the status of your order. If the person who answers the phone doesn't give you satisfaction, take a deep breath and ask to speak to a supervisor. Always be pleasant, but go up as high as you must to get this issue resolved. If someone is willing to get you the assistance you need, make sure to compliment and thank them profusely and even send a note and name that person directly.

Don't be afraid to ask along the way, "what can you do to keep me as a customer? Can you throw in something extra to compensate me for the difficulties and problems I have had with you? I'd like to reamain a customer, but I need some assurance that this kind of mistake won't happen again." As I always say to my children, if you don't ask, you certainly won't get.
