How can you fake a 22' long curtain rod?
Comments (8)I once used PVC pipe then painted it gold and used a support in the middle, they also make brackets that you can't see, sort of like an elbow bracket that the rod sits on and screws in underneath the rod and to the wall. PVC comes in different sizes, I don't remember now but I think this was 3 in. diameter pipe. Home Depot. It was light weight and you can get it in any length. I glued on the finials. You can use a ball or something on the end something lightweight and either paint it or wood faux finish them. Sorry for the poor quality picture. Comments (4)Thanks for responding! It's actually one of the sites I have been looking at. I spoke to them a week ago about finishes and shipping times. I'm also been in contact with www.ironandinteriors.com which has nice rods also. I believe both make good quality round rods with a nice choice of finials, however I've hesitated over Robles' ball finial as it doesn't look as if it proportionally fits the rod in the pictures - if you look closely. Both my daughter and I thought the finial looked too small for the 1 1/4" rod. The Texas place has a ball finial that actually looks as if it had been welded to the rod as well as a standard ball finial and a variety of others, so I am leaning in their direction. I need to make a decision. I'm looking for a rod and finials with a bit of texture for the living room so that they don't look as if they came from Pottery Barn, although I also have some of PB's elsewhere in the house. Robles seems to wax then paint their iron rods to give them texture, the Texas one treats their metal with acid to etch it before painting to give it an aged look....See MoreAdvice: Two Curtain Rods or One Extra Long Rod over Both Windows?

Comments (23)Your room is lovely and it reminds me of the dining rooms in the homes of our early American Presidents. I did not notice the difference in space between the left window/near wall and the right window/near wall. If you put anything there, even a plate, it will throw off the symmetry of that end of the room and call attention to a spatial difference that no one actually notices. Your curtain rods may not be fully extended. I would check that first. Personally, I like the separate curtain rods and think if you pulled the curtains together at the center top and added hold backs right above the wainscoting (easier to repair hardware holes in the wall than to try to cover them up in wainscoting if you should ever want to make a change) it would give the windows a more formal appearance for very little money. You can gently pull a bit of the curtain so it slightly curves as it drapes behind the hold back rather than be pulled straight....See Moreroobear
