I'm not expert in Citrus Psorosis; I only know what it looks like and that it is a death sentence for the tree. I don't know if new trees are susceptible or not; it mostly occurs in older trees. Seems like your Meyer got it from the other tree; and the part of the tree (Meyer scion) that the disease attacks would be the same as the tree you have now. I would not take the chance if it were mine; I would cut it and burn it or otherwise dispose of it. Not surprised by the UCCE response; unless it was a citrus specialist, they probably didn't recognize it... the leaf pattern is the giveaway; it is unique to the CP.

Hi Pam - Sorry to hear about the VFT. Sometimes when you buy them at garden or hardware stores they are already on their way out.... I have had great success with plants I ordered from California Carnivores and also from Cook's Carnivorous plants. 1). Only water a VFT with rainwater, or distilled water. 2). Use the "tray method". Set the potted plant in a dish or tray and when you water, pour it into the tray - make sure there is 1/4 to 1 inch water in the tray. 3). You don't have to feed it. If you do, no hamburger meat. Just bugs - about 1/3 the size of a trap. For more info, go to www.sarracenia.com & look for the FAQ section. Once you get the hang of a VFT, another fun thing you can try is a window box or mini bog with a pitcher plant, sundew, and venus flytrap. Good luck. Bill

OH yeah! Zhu Zhu Pets - we have 2 of them that live here (they came home to this house when they were on sale at Target). They were a BIG HIT 2 weeks ago when some little kiddles came to visit :) Only one little kid cried when he couldn't take his home)and his mom said (privately to me) that one would be under his tree at their house on Christmas Day and so I had to let him suffer. Thanks all for some truly great ideas. I think sometimes its easy not to see the forest for the trees and this little one is flying here from the 22nd through the 26th and I want to make it special, cause she won't be with her mommy. But she will be with her daddy who adores her and so of course do her grandparents! We'll all do the best we can and I sooooooooo appreciate the ideas. Books are on the agenda and so is baking (although that will be a struggle for me LOLOL). I already own a low temp glue gun so that should work for both her and me! No jeans, Cathy! Based on my neighbors and people I see around here, they would wear that hat all the time. We don't have sidewalks so walkers & runners are in the street. With the cars. I still see everyone, except me, wearing earbuds. Perhaps the craziest was a guy on a recumbent bike, so he's down low and easier to overlook. He was riding in the traffic lane of a busy road, not my little side street, without a helmet and wearing earbuds. Yes, a bike is entitled to use the street but doesn't he have to obey other traffic safety rules? And shouldn't he err on the side of caution since he has MUCH more to lose in a fender bender. Maybe they figure, with more and more hybrid cars, you can't hear them coming so why not enjoy a few tunes up until your death. I *almost* wish I needed a $50 gift for a 16 yo boy, there are so many great ideas here.
