Do you lock up your valuables?

We have been looking at homes over the past year and it is amazing the number of people that leave their valuables out while their house is being shown. Things like jewerly or cds would be easy for someone to pick up and put in their pocket. Or antiques could be knocked over and broken, especially if there are kids around.

We went to a open house this summer and there were lots of cd's sitting around. My wife noticed that there were antique plates sitting around on display. There were lots of kids running around and the parents weren't paying much attention to them.

There was no way that the realtor could keep an eye on these valuables by himself, expecially when there are lots of people in the house.

When our house is being shown, we lock up our cd's, dvd's, cameras, medicines, etc. in a metal cabinet. Most people are honest, but why temp fate?

So do you lock up your valuables when you have a showing?
