Should I tear into my master bath walk in closet flooring?
Comments (2)I think this falls under the "nice to have" category. Changing out the floor probably won't add value to your home, and it won't make the floor more functional for you. However, if it will bother you to not have flow from one floor to the other I would change it out. I'm also assuming there will be no change in floor level once you install the new bathroom floor, or if there is a change in level it can easily be addressed with a saddle. If there is a change in level that is not easily addressed then I would seriously consider extending the tile into the closet area....See MoreCarpet to Wood floors, stairs & nosing before or after floors?
Comments (0)I plan on converting carpet to wood on a home I've recently purchased. Floor planks are picked out -- 3 1/4" solid maple. My supplier can install them before I move in. My supplier does not do stairs, and even if they did, I don't know if I can make all the design choices before moving in, given limited access to the property. Should I delay the floors until I have the stairs figured out -- even if it means I'll then have to move around furniture? If not, should I have the floor supplier remove the rails and put in new edge and stair nosing -- so that the nosing has the same finish as the floors, and also so that the floors will be flush against the nosing? Or should I leave existing nosing/balusters/posts in place -- so that I have the flexibility to refinish them in place if it makes sense -- railings are in good shape, but I do not yet know what is underneath the stair carpet -- and if I'll have to put in new treads or will be able to finish the underlying wood....See MoreRugs for closets with solid wood flooring
Comments (3)I don't have any rugs in my closet. Except for one that I have rolled up in the corner until it gets used somewhere. So I guess I am of no help. At that size, I would think you would want to look for a piece of carpet, finished appropriately....See MoreWhat floor covering should I replace this carpet with?
Comments (5)Wood would seem like the obvious choice - either soid hardwood or engineered hardwood and either site finished or factory finished. However there isn't enough information on what the rest of the flooring on that level is. Typically one would have all flooring the same on a level except possibly the kitchen and foyer/entrance where one would have complementary flooring although the trend now is to have wood flooring in kitchens and entrances because the finishes are so durable....See Moremusicteacher
