When you buy a new home, is there a way to set up the records so that the home ownership is reflected under another name (sorta like a trust)? I have concerns about my privacy and my name being on the appraisal district website along with my address. The only way to get your information off of their website is if you are a peace officer or victim of family violence. I don't fall under their categories but I would still like a different name to show up under my address so I couldn't be "found" that way. Would this be something I address with an attorney, the title company or my mortgage broker?

Attorney.

Don't mention it to anyone else until you talk to an attorney. It may have tax implications, so you should probably talk to a CPA as well, but talk to the attorney first.

Yes, you can. It can be set up by any good attorney who specializing in trusts, LLCs, family planning, etc.

hired help is using the computer? that is just asking for trouble passwords may be a worry but also you have no idea what kinds of sites they may be going to and so many sites today are just loaded with infections waiting to happen. I never let anyone use my pc, if I do they use a separate account that is a very limited user account where they have no access to the admin functions. My advice is if you want to let this happen (I would not) then lock down your admin account with a very very strong non-sense password that is a combo of letters and numbers. Then create a very limited user account that is for them to use. That way they have no access to any of your passwords. When email programs do that save the password it was because at some point it or the browser was told to do so that is a very bad idea especially for email. I do not even do that on my own pc. I assume this is xp? does it have a good valid updated antivirus program on it? does it have a firewall on it? I would be running some scans on it including malwarebytes if people you do not know have had access to your admin account. NEVER use a real word, pet name, or birthday. Get that admin locked down with that kind of password and do not give it to anyone let everyone else use the limited user account.

Dodonea and Eugenia are two that are easy maintenance. Our Eugenias made a handsome hedge. They were limbed up 3-4 ft. from the ground and kept about 12 ft. tall. Maybe pruned every other year. A neighbor has Dodoneas in green with a red one now and then. Very attactrive. Pruned yearly to about 8 ft.

Since you do not want to pursue legal remedies(and I understand your reluctance to do so), you will need to be creative. And patient. However, the watering could possibly be detrimental to your property and contacting the local property codes office should be a good idea(depending on how the codes office operates). Having a complaint on file should also give you some more solid background should the situation escalate. I'd build a trellis that is adjustable. And one that is solid enough she cannot see through it easily. A basket weave pattern of cedar lathing(thin strips of cedar) on a cedar frame, for instance. Leave three feet open on the bottom and use stainless steel pins(so they do not rust and stain the cedar) to raise and position the top at 8'. Or, build the trellis supports U shaped(making the trellis move like a window) and simply put 2' removable supports to hold it in the 8' height. That way, if she complains, and the codes folks come out, you can instantly be compliant by simply lowering the trellis. Plus, you have the prior complaint(and a couple would not hurt) to back up your solution.

Thank you all for your great ideas - some I hadn't ever thought of or considered (mirrors)! So all comments have been helpful and educational. Loved your descriptions of how you've solved it and your pictures, that helps me visualize (and trust me, I need help visualizing!) Now I have some ideas to discuss with my husband and can move forward. Yes, ninigret - messy office! Ü Jan, I think your top picture is the perfect solution for us, as I would hate to have to mess with taking the glass out and putting in different glass at this point. Would you tell me a little more about the privacy film that is shown in that picture? Where to get it? What's involved? Etc. (Sorry, I'm clueless!) Thanks again to all! I really appreciate the help!

You will most likely have to find an attorney to hold title, since the trust records end up being public if filed.

They will charge you a fee to handle RE taxes, insurance, and related items that will have to go through their office.

You want to contact an attorney and address your concerns and needs, they know what to do.

Deeds are a matter of public record here in our county. DD works for the local Sunday newspaper and all the house sales are listed with the prices paid and as a consequence, the editor occasionally has to field irate phone calls from sellers or buyers threatening to sue, etc. They don't have a leg to stand on.

That is why the OP posted, looking for a way to keep personal information out of the public records. There are ways to do that. That is why most of us have suggested consulting an attorney, who will be able to assist the OP in the matter.

Side note - Land Trusts are not insurable from a title insurance standpoint in most states. Additionally, know that if you acquire title as one entity and then change the manor title is held it can nullify your title insurance policy. There are ways around this, just inquire.

Of course the fact they live there, but the recorded owner is "attorney XYZ", or a trust is not really going to hide much of anything.

It's a bummer that privacy now has to be protected through an attorney, instead of being expected. Helloooo socialism.

However, it IS really handy when I'm checking through the tax records of current owners on properties i"m interested in, LOL. So,from an ethical standpoint I hate it but from a practical one, it's very handy.
