Been $3.18 for a few days here.

We have been hovering between 3.45 and 3.55 for weeks now.

It's $3.85 here in Cetral Indiana.

$3.61 outside of Philadelphia, 20 cents more than it was a few weeks ago. The price always skyrockets right before Memorial Day Weekend.

$4.19 in NW Wisconsin. Really ticks me off!

4.29 in Minot ND, due to the refineries shut down. What a joke as this state sends out at least 600,000 gallon of crude per day!!!!People here are a bit upset and have cut back both driving and buying.

Yesterday gas here went up to $1.29 a litre at most stations but we found Zehrs hadn't changed theirs and it was at $1.16 a litre. The line ups were long, and most had big vehicles, trucks or vans.

bought before the expected rise, so don't have a clue...i'm dreading my dh's gas usage as he took the co truck to il to help his dad,,,,

I just got back from Germany where gas goes for about $8 a gallon, which explains why you don't see a lot of monster vehicles on their roads. My advice: continue to enjoy cheap U.S. gas prices while they last.

$4.09-$4.49 here. There's always the conspiracy theorists but refinery shutdowns are causing the trouble. Refineries are either closed or in limited production in Illinois, Minnesota, N. Dakota, S. Dakota, Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, and Nebraska and possibly elsewhere. And there's multiple refineries affected in some states.

I'm not in the oil business but I understand some of the things that happen having been in the retail gasoline business in the past. Other contributors are the weather which delayed the changeover to the summer blends of gas. When the refineries do their changeover, they also do maintenance which needs to be done and common sense says to do that while you're shut down or at partial production for other reasons, otherwise you'd have the loss of production more often. There's pipeline issues in the gulf, I don't know what they are but they're also being blamed as contributory. Also supplies of gas were at very low levels though I don't know why. So when you put all of these together, we get hit with the "perfect storm" cliche. Refineries shutting down at the same time isn't real common, especially this many at a time, but in fairness, it's not their fault. They can't plan with other refineries on when they'll shut down or they get hit with anti-trust and collusion charges. Minnesota's Senators have asked for an investigation if there can be some control on when they shut down so there's a coordinated effort to accomplish their needs without affecting the flow needlessly.

What angers me is the impact on the mom & pop stations. People don't realize what slim margins there is on gas. Most people figure oh those big oil companies are getting rich... and yes THEY are, but the gas station itself makes but a few pennies on a gallon of gas. There isn't the 30% 50% or higher margins on gas as there is in some retail operation's products. Then think about the impact of the credit card fee. The gross profit to the station is the *same* whether gas is $1/gal or $4/gal, but the card fee for $4/gal gas is four times that of $1/gal. Then give some thought to what a drive off costs the station. Ever wonder why there's fewer and fewer mom & pop stations? It's really sad.

Some of the refineries are coming back online and the prices are trickling down ever so slowly. I think I'll make it through the weekend so I can avoid the demand stress on the prices. If not, it'll just cost me more. It's the way it is and until the consumer is willing to do something besides complain, nothing will change.

They announced record prices this weekend. So look for it go down on Tuesday (after the holiday)?

I just filled up for $3.75/gallon. I pay whatever my nearest station is charging, I don't think driving around for a lower price actually pays off! Years ago, when travelling from Long Island we would deliberately go through New Jersey because they have less gas taxes and hence lower prices.r

My neighbor lady will drive forever to save 5 cents a gallon. She just bought a new car that gets 16 miles to a gallon. She will drive a 30 mile round trip to save the nickle. Then she complains about her mileage. I don't know if she is just not good at math or what. It's crazy!!

It would almost be worth driving to NJ for gas butI have to pay a toll to go over the bridge, so that wipes out any savings. Oh well. I certainly do think twice about driving longer distances because of the cost. I see a hybrid in my future.

We do two things. Costco has cheaper gas and my husband will stop by when he has to go down to the city. He doesn't go there just for gas, only when he is passing by.
Then, we get gas points from Stop and Shop. I try to save up to 40 cents off per gallon . It's now just the two of us, but if you have a large family you could get a dollar off per gallon. What happens is that you get 30 days to use the points from the day issued, so some points may drop off before you use them so you have to watch what is going on.
We are also on a plan where we get money back from American Express. It's tied into our Costco card.

$4.25 for regular north of Chicago. It's not a biggie because we drive so little (3000 miles a year). I know fuel costs affect the price of everything else we buy though.

Recently I see three grades of gasoline at the pumps (plus diesel). What's that about?

Here in Alberta, we pay about $5.50 a gallon. Ouch!

SOME people evidently don't care about the price of gas. A new model Rolls followed us out of Home Depot's parking lot today.

It did not have a sheet of plywood tied to the roof. LOL

Massive car! I don't know which model it was, but from browsing online they seem to be about 18 feet long; weigh over 5500 lbs.; and have V-12 engines. Hard to believe you could move all that weight from 0 - 60 in 4.9 seconds.

SE Wisconsin:

$3.93 to 3.97 per gallon for 87 octane.

Prices have been trickling down here this week. Yes BEFORE the holiday weekend! Guess that blows another myth out of the water! ;)

In the area, prices have dropped to $3.94 - $4.09 currently. I use GasBuddy. I like keeping tabs on prices so I know if I need gas and will be in the area, I can fill up and save a little bit.

Wonder if a couple Senators contacting the DOE requesting an investigation had anything to do with it? Or have some of the refineries come back online?
