Absolutely amazing! It adds such depth and interest. I was expecting some cheesey display. Instead of going wimpy & only doing a small display, he went big-time and won. It looks like an integral part of the room.

My little office/workroom is in horrible danger of a similar fate. Ex-designers with drafting training and no design projects on the boards, take note!

Except that I doubt that I have the patience to finish it, and half-done would be worse than not at all.

A friend decorated his enclosed sunporch with spray paint, creating huge tropical leaves, Tiki gods, waves, a sunset. It's got sort of a graffiti vibe about it, and is really cool.

It's amazing what someone with artistic ability can create with the most basic of supplies!

Very cool. But there is quite a bit of artistic skill there...it's not all about the sharpies.

This became my lifestyle years ago too:

he had decided in his 30s that he wanted Impressionist art in his house, quite a lot of it, and that to afford such a stunning variety he'd best produce it himself.

She *does* have the coolest husband, she's right :)

(have to say, this project really doesn't look anything like what my then-3 y.o. daughter did with sharpies to our white bonus room walls several years ago...but she didn't know about Paris salons yet...)

I think he missed his calling as an artist! Great story and wonderful artwork! I guess if he runs out of legal work he knows what he can do to make money!

That's pretty darn cool! Can't let my 2yr old see it though, he's been fascinated w/ black sharpies here of late. Likes to color the tip of his nose w/ it or write on the TV.

patricia is right on , that ia what most of us would need ...and then some !!! . My son did a whole wall at his shop and used the overhead. You still have to have a LOT of talent !! And the ingenuity and creativity and all the other (ity's) that are needed LOL. I wonder what his fee is ?? !! c

Awesome. When I first saw the title I thought it was going to be a disaster type story. I actually like that the lines aren't perfect. Wonder if he had to fix any mess ups.

Incredibly creative, and i'm in awe of the talent. Just in awe!

Having said that, though, i have to confess, i don't think i could live in that space. It's amazing as a work of art, and i could walk around and look at it endlessly in that light. But as a living space, i think it would make me feel somehow anxious and smothered to actually live there. Or maybe i would get used to it! I don't know. :) I'm blathering.

In any case, it sure is amazing.

Attention children: do not try this at home.

One thing about sharpies is that it will bleed through many primers (learned from painting childrens" furniture). So, unless you know what you are doing, this is not something that is easily reversible.

That is incredible. I think it has inspired me to use black and cream to decorate my sewing room!

Oh dear. I thought I posted about this. Here is another site that has some very cool sharpie art that could be done on the walls. I see no way to make a mistake doing this technique.
