Comments (24)You guys are too kind. :) Believe me, the little photo here minimizes a lot of problems! When we bought this house, the plan was to gut the entire bathroom and re-do it, but we blew our wad on the kitchen and everywhere else, so this room only got necessities (plumbing and electrical) and a facelift. But it's a million miles better than it used to be. Imagine waking up to this every morning!.... Still gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about it! natal, it's hard to believe that's the same color! lynn, I did not see Lancaster Whitewash until much later. I compared the 2 chips and they looked the same to me too. I wondered if maybe they were just changing the name. The window is great but it can be challenging with respect to privacy! oceanna, the room is still not put back together. We have to paint and re-install the closet shelves and I have to finish curtains and shades. There is not much wallspace, so I may be decorating strictly with towels! :) Thanks again for the nice comments, everyone....See MoreBM Regal paint for bathroom? Paint and primer question.
Comments (12)Shee & Co., Sorry it took me a while to get back to this.... Skewing: I shouldn't have mentioned this goofy little point, but now it's out there! It's only relevant in a few "Real-life" scenarios. It mainly pertains (to ME anyway...) paint applied too thinly, therefore revealing a hint of the primer color. * Example: If someone uses a "pink" primer under Burgundy, the whole paintjob can appear too light, 'cuz the primer is too white. * To ME...Gray is more appropriate, 'cuz it alters deep colors the "least", if paint is applied too thin. * Gray primer has its limits though! If you're painting a vivid "Lemon Yellow" or "Basketball Orange", THEN you'd need a primer that's almost the final paint color! A medium-gray primer COULD give a grayish-cast to bright, vivid tones. Curing/Bathroom use: * Sorry Shee.....you'll have to smell for a month.........;-) * JUST KIDDING! * After 2nd paint coat has dried for a day, use bathroom as normal. It needs that 24hrs. to get the initial surface-dry so steam doesn't re-soften the paint slightly. * "Full Cure-Out" mainly refers to the complete dry-thru/hardening of the applied film...SO IT'S WASHABLE. "Sweeping": * If you're working L-to-R, the RIGHT edge of a "swept" section will be the wettest. * Therefore, you're OK to slightly work into this section. When sweeping your 2nd column, start from its left edge, overlapping into 1st column slightly. * Ease-off the pressure on your rollers left side just a hair when overlapping a previous sections' final sweep. Comments (14)As someone who loves blue and actually has a very blue master bedroom (it's an old BM paint I dont know the color but its a real strong blue and I love it: been trying to figure out the name and it is close to but more gray-purple than buxton blue but that give you an idea of the color level) and a few years ago painted a blue (actually river mist valspar for color reference)which looks like your earlier samples ina guest bathroom with lots of gray.... well I really like blue but I am realizing that the one in the bathroom is probably too intense /turquoisish?happy? and will probably be toning it down .... I think that the photos you have of the gossamer blue remind me of what I have in the bathroom. I say this with full love and respect for the colors- but I think from what you are you are saying that you likely do want to go with a lighter less intense but still blue one. There is one --I cannot remember the name of but I think it was used in some bathrooms posted here- maybe by lukkirish?? It was a lovely spa like blue....See MoreAny Pics of BM White Sand, BM Muslin or BM Cream Fleece Walls?
Comments (6)You are so very welcome! :-) We tested a "gajillion" colors for the FR (this room is off the FR) until we finally settled on Mascarpone (one of my first choices, BTW, but DH wasn't too keen on it at first). Somehow I just knew that the Muslin would be the winner in the Guest Bedroom from the get-go. I did look at a two or three darker colors in there as well, just to be 100% sure, but really wasn't ready to go darker in there. Muslin is a terrific neutral color. We both absolutely love the Muslin. It looks a little creamier during the day, leans more toward khaki at night, but looks great either way. We are very happy with the Aura matte--have used it in every room we've painted over the past 5-6 years, incl ceilings (used matching colors to the wall colors in the satin finish on the baseboard molding in all rooms)....See Moredenali2007
