Ideas for Mstr bed side tables - thinking mirror

I need to find night stands/ bed side tables for my master bedroom. The room is simple - a grayish taupe upholstered bed flanked by two murano glass pendants - the pendants are white with a gold and silver band on the bottom.

The carpet is tibetan with silk threads in a few shades of green with a lot of grey tones. THe window coverings are silk stripe from RH in light whatever that popular color of theirs is - lol I am blanking. Our walls are BM Aura in a color similar but a little richer than that popular RH color I can't for the life of me recall right now.

I originally thought of floating tables in a dark cherry - the house is craftsman inspired with many built-ins in the same dark cherry. Now I am thinking something a bit more bling - like mirror. I like the size and shape of some I saw at PB but they are not at all antique looking and I think I would like more of an old world feeling - mirror with a little more character.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I just got my mirrored bedside tables, and I love them, can't show pics because I'm not home now, I could do that in a week.

They take on the color of whatever is around them , being mirror; mine are just square with 3 drawers that have a crystal knob and are totally mirror except for small square black legs. My bedroom decor is ecclectic old world with bling thrown in, lol....

Hello,

I would love to find nice mirrored tables for my spare bedroom as well. Where did you get yours mtchdesj? I've had a hard time finding nice ones that didn't cost a fortune.

Thats an interesting point you bing up there dmlove. I never thought of that. Although our current side table lamps are those cheap IKEA frosted rectangular lights that sit right on the table and are open on top. My wife seems to read OK with them (I guess I should verify this...). The pendants I had in mind would be lightly frosted. I was thinking the Hampton Bay Architect if I can get it in Canada. Re-reading the original post, I see that you did say that you were thinking of a lighter fabric. I think that part of what I respond to in your room is the strong lines of the frame against the gray wall. I would not like to see that obscured, and I think you have just the right amount of fabric now, with the bedding and the curtain panel that is visible on the side. I was thinking of black and white framed photos, too, but I'd like to see three - I like odd numbers. I wish I could photoshop!

bestyears: I asked dd(10) last week if she liked the idea of word art above her headboard and she nixed it. I really like the look of the vinyl word art but I've never seen it in person, have you? If so, does it look as good up close as on the web? marisany: Thank you dd and I are really pleased with the color. I've had that mirror for many years and was hoping to make it work in dd's room. DD makes her bed herself every morning so I don't want to hurt her feelings by changing it. I've mentioned to her about her short headboard and laying her pillows flat but she the 3rd one and I've learned to pick my battles. maddie: Do you have a picture of your house? I'd love to see it on an exterior. I'm so glad dd wanted this color in her room. It's been one of my favorite colors for years. ingrid vc: I purchased the bedding 10 years ago for oldest dd and I still smile everytime I look at it. My SIL and a family friend liked it so much they purchased the same bedding for their masterbedrooms after seeing it at our house. It was dd who wanted this mirror above her bed. I told her I wasn't sure, it might be too small but she insisted. I was worried it would look lost and I was right. Now the challenge is to find a way to make it look like it belongs above the headboard to appease me and keep dd happy. Whenever we hang anything heavy above our beds DH is so anal that he anchors it to the wall. He's perfected this skill. I've been out here since I was 11 so I'm not as sketchy as he is about earthquakes.

Or, check out some antiques or consignment shops. There are some great old tables out there.

I got one for my DIL at Stein-Mart I think it was in the Nina Campbell section. She loves it. I think it has 3 drawers, but one is kind of smallish, like you could do nothing more than lie jewelry flat.

Have a look at these. I know this company, but am not involved. I am near their store, I have bought numerous light fixtures from them, and like the people.

If you want something more antique looking, Pier One had this one on their website. Can't remember size, but I had saved it as being $90 (although that could have been a sale price).

thanks for the suggestions - I like the simple Pier 1 but I probably need at least one drawer.

I also like one of the Shades of Light - the last one - but it is too big. I have now found 3 I really like that were too big.

I think it may be one of those things I need to keep an eye out for until I find the perfect fit.

Horchow has one that would be the right size. Sorry about the low rez of the picture. The high rez ones are flash and you cannot copy theose pictures.

THanks - Linda - I did just find that one and the price is much better but not sure if I like it quite as well.

Also found a site Glamfurniture that had some art deco, but not at all antique, ones. I liked them and it had a matching 6 drawer chest that I could use. So now I have confused myself ;-)
