Granite Quartzite slabs!! final decision, advice please

This is it, I have a deposit down on one and another stone that I had heard good things about has come in and is flying out very vast, a few Gw's have it and say it is pulletproof. I can change my mind but would have to do so now. I really like the slab I have on hold but have not heard any feedback about it or the durability. I am assuming it is similar in durability as the other quartzites are.

The pros of staying with the slab I have on hold is that I can use one slab for my kitchen, the other would require two, but I could use the extra for the kids bath and custom desk.

I will have white inset cabinets in an 1900's condo. I wanted marble but with kids and such just not for our lifestyle.

I love the one you have on hold and it seems like it would fit well with your 1900's decorating theme.
You can always buy a remnant for your bathroom as many stone fabricators will save their leftovers and sell them at a significant discount. My stone yard sold high end colors for $10. a square foot, so after fabrication charges and install, it ended up costing around $60. sq ft, compared to the retail price of $120. to $160. sq ft.

Thanks! Babs, it definitely will NOT be the backsplash that is shown in the picture! We are building our home and we won't be moving until May. We want to see the kitchen put together before finalizing a backsplash so it probably won't be until summer. We are leaning towards ceramic tiles like the one in the photo but in white with stainless steel accent tiles. Our cabinets are cherry and our appliances are stainless.

Please help me choose slabs of white quartzite

Update: My designer and I went to view 4 & 5. While she agreed the patterning on 5 was interesting, she thought the tonal variations of the shades of white in 4 was better. 4 was also DH's favorite. There are 15 contiguous numbered slabs of #4, so DH and I made an appt. with the stone yard to go pull out more slabs over lunch tomorrow. Although I expect the slabs to be similar, there may be some variations that make some slabs more pleasing to us than others. I am hoping the yellowish area on the far right of the top slab does not appear on all the slabs in that lot. Maybe some of the lower slabs have a little more variation in the lines too. Kiffgirl, I looked at Marmol too. They have some nice cross cut WM now, which I considered before deciding on the vein cut. BKW, we do not have any 90 degree turns to deal with. The 2 perimeter runs will be separated by a French door to the side yard. (No seams required - yay!) Taking stripes around a corner was certainly something I worried about when we were originally planning an L configuration.

I just had a quartzite installed called White Eternity. It was very very expensive at about $200 a sq foot and is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately it does stratch. I was under the impression it wouldnt and even my fabricator said it shouldnt be behaving like that. I have yet to get an answer back. I am just trying not to look at those spots because I literally spent a small fortune and if I think about it too much it will just piss me off. So...what I am trying to say is yes, not all Quartzites are bullet proof.

I do love the first one, and we will have enough with the one slab for the entire kitchen plus master bath vanity. So it will be nice, Frugal thanks for the remnants type, I will use that for my office when the time comes.

Hate to sound like a broken record, but my vote is for the first one. If you wanted something that looked like marble, the first one is closer. The pattern seems "softer" if you will. Of course some of the depth and nuances of the stone are lost in digital format. On my monitor, the mother of pearl looks different that what I have seen in person myself. You are going to be looking at that counter day in/day out for a long time, so make sure you that you really like whatever you pick.

It is Taj Mahal. I went to the op homepage )( clicked on her name) and on a post in 2014 she replied:

I love my Taj Mahal quartzite. No etching or staining at all and we do not baby it and my young kids eat at it for most meals often right off it. It is definitely a true quartzite not marble. You could also try a quartz product they have some to mimic marble.
