You might have to put the individual cups in your quart size plastic bag for carry-on. I had a similar consistency snack and had to put it in the TRASH! Too gel-like! Silly!

I was going to put it in my carryon.

redcurls, did you mean when you went thru security you had to trash it?????

yes, I had several of those cheese And cracker snacks where the cheese is in a little cup to spread on the crackers. I had no room in my quart bag so had to pitch 'em...was not happy. I do know some TSA officers overlook some things and some are stricter than others. that Jif to go sounds good to me!!!! it was also shortly after the shoe incident...several years ago...things do change.

so redcurls, what other snacks did you take on your flight?

That you got to keep :o)

AND any recommendations to take?????

Check with the airlines. You cannot take bottled water unless you buy it at the airlines after you check in thru security. No liquids over 3 oz, I think. Not sure about food. The airlines will give you a list, or go on line. My kids just flew from ND to CA so that is where I found out about the water.

I'm flying American airlines!

Lance cheese crackers were fine....go figure....they also have good peanut butter ones....I think the big problem was that one inch square containing cheese. ("no gels or liquids") I had a pack of 6 or 8 I had to dump.

The Jif to Go idea is great, but, what if anyone on your flight is allergic to peanuts! years ago experienced seeing a child attending day camp in a gym where the coordinators of course knew of his allergy...sadly, someone from another event before their arrival had left an empty PB jar open in a kitchen adjacent to the gym...it surely was difficult to see how bad his reaction was and how frightened his parents were....just saying...be careful.

When we went out to California, I brought the Pepperidge Farm snack packs and put them in my carry-on.

Looked at the Jif pk earlier. Not bad price for 8 cups.

I dare not get them until next week, or e-l-s-e! I know me!

We just got back from vacation. We flew United. We took energy bars and apples. You can get a water bottle called "Platypus" that comes flat and holds a liter of water. It is the safe kind of plastic that can be reused. We fill ours AFTER we have gone through security. Have never had a problem.

Enjoy your trip!

I bought two plastic water bottles from Dollar Tree. Can fill it with water when we go thru security, plus fill it with water when going on excursions.

Has a screw on lid and a convenient handle.

OMG I just bought the new Pringles baked wheat stixs pizza flavor..they are so good. Come wrapped individual packets (10) and only 90 calories per packet...very yummy.

Glenda, when do you leave? Bet GS is really excited!

When the kids flew from ND to CA, only sealed bottles of water were allowed AFTER the security which they bought while waiting. No empty bottles=--this was United.

I've carried empty water bottle containers with me for quite a few flights. Gonna do that this time.

Empty water bottle containers that I fill after I go thru security. No problem!

I took granola bars with me when I flew to GA.

Sooooo jealous about your Alaska trip. Hmmmmmm, maybe someday, I hope.

Have a safe trip and a great time, can't wait to hear all about it and see pics.

It might be a good idea to bring a back up snack along with the peanut butter. On a flight last year (American) there was an announcement made that a passenger was highly allergic to peanuts. We were asked if we had anything containing peanuts to please not open it. My DH flies 150,000+ miles per year and said that he sees this quite often.

Have a wonderful trip!

Speaking of water containers Glenda and all - I was at Ocean State Job Lots yesterday debating over a great insulated bottle with carrying case - no ice cubes needed...$3.99 remains ice cold/hot as carrying case has 3-4 layers various insulations. Like to have 'hands free'. Think I may go back and get one after all. Comes in dark gray and sort of a lite denim blue..

The snacks I like to take are peanut m & m's, red licorice and gum. Gum isn't really a snack, but a nice diversion when I get hungry or to pop my ears when starting the descent and licorice is not messy and you can eat slow.

I also almost always pack a couple instant oatmeals. They are easy, just heat water in a cup in hotel. If you forget...almost all hotels have plastic utensils at the front desk.
Have fun!
