I'm trying to get ahead with my blocks since I will be having an operation on my feet on 21st Sept. So I posted your block today - 18th Aug. It will reach you around 30th August

Yes, I'm still alive. Life has just been crazy these days. That's a really cool U/S pic! I don't think I've ever seen one with that much clarity and detail. What a beautiful little sweetheart. Good luck for Monday, Gil. My middle son shares his birthday with my DH and he was born on DH's 30th. I've got a picture taken in the hospital of him holding the baby with a cake in front of them. My MIL could not figure out why I wanted her to pick up 2 "zeros" and 1 "three" for candles. I placed them so it read "30" and "0" on the cake. One of those very special Kodak moments in our family. I envy all of you now in this digital camera age. It used to be such a pain to go get film and get them developed. My youngest son doesn't have near enough pictures taken of him as he was growing up. What a treat to be able to take them instantly and to get so many "perfect" and candid shots all of the time. Wow. Am I showing my age!! Shauna

Ronda, maybe your crocus will bloom yet, don't give up on them. It seems like one day you see green leaves, then a slight swelling, then a bud creeps out overnight! I should have taken another photo of those crocuses- they looks so frosty and cold (even though Dusty would be out weeding in her "it's 30Âº, it's a heatwave" T shirt! LOL) later on the sun came out and those babies popped right open, a lovely little sea of purple/lavender. Dusty, I spent 23 years in the confines of Minnesota. I know cold. The coldest temp I ever saw, not windchill, was -38Âº maybe lower and I'm just blocking it out-- and the windchill then was -75Âº. I went skiing once at -22, really tough to keep your nose and eyeballs thawed out. You have to be tough (aka stupid) to do that! My teenage car was about a 16 ton Pontiac Bonneville. One morning I went out to "warm it up" in really true bone- chilling cold well below zero. No cloth seats then: we had bubble plastic seat covers, colder than heck on the back side! I didn't realize quite how cold it was until I drove off some minutes later: the car tires had frozen flat where the weight of the car flattened out the tires parked overnight. So when I drove, it was thumpety thump, thumpety thump down the ice cold streets until the friction warmed them into round tires again! Ilsonshine- I have never kept a garden journal but one thing I tried "tried-" (meaning I remembered to do it for about a week) last year was log in bloom times of various perennials in various beds, ostensibly to plan better placement and remind myself of what I can count on to bloom, when. If I had a dime for every notebook or stray piece of paper with garden notes on it around this house I'd be retired and organized if I ever got them all in one place. I'm thinking my Circle Pal's file box might come in real handy to get garden notes organized too. Yippee: I picked up file dividers and note cards to fit that box the other day! Five weeks to Spring! The 3rd group is now complete with the inclusion of Nancy (stitches). This group is to be called "Ribbons and Bows". I have written out all the details for each person in the group and am now just waiting on Nancy (stitches) to send me her information. As soon as I have that, I will email the completed group information to you all. We now have 3 people on our emergency list, willing to fill in if someone has to withdraw. If anyone else would like to be on this list, then let me know. From emails I've received, we have some very keen quilters indeed. Some people have completed half or more of next year's blocks already! This will save a lot of time next year and ensure they send their blocks out early for each person's birthday. Well done! Kay, I have your block done, but took to to work to mail it and realized I don't have it in a zip lock. So, it may looks a little funny in the garbage bag I'm going to use, LOL!, but at least it should make it by Friday!

Kay, your block rode away with the mailman just a few minutes ago. It's hard not opening them as they come...but it makes your birthday that much more special. Hope you enjoy every moment of your day.

Hi, ladies, I popped in to count what has been received and what has been mailed for the September birthday ladies. It looks like Kay has only received 2 blocks from this group so far. There are 5 more on their way to her. Where are the other 5? Hopefully you have them in the mail to her and just didn't post of this thread. Everyone has been doing super in the exchange this year so this is just a gentle reminder. I suspect some people just forgot to list here that they have mailed!

Kay, You are a stronger person than I am. I don't see how you can wait to open your BD blocks. When DH brings me the mail, he stands and waits for me to open the squishies so he can see, too.

I am alittle concerned that you haven't gotten the block I sent.
It was mailed with a couple of others one the 8th of Sept.
The others have gotten theirs but I haven't seen mention of yours.
Please let me know if it doesn't show up as I will replace it.

I mailed your block on Tuesday. I was hoping to get it made sooner but had a little trouble choosing the fabric for this one. I really like the way it turned out and hope you do too.

Kay, I've sent you a couple of emails, but haven't gotten a response, so they may have been filtered into your junk mail. Your block is on its way. I really hope you are able to post a photo of your blocks....I'm very interested to see how they look together. To be honest, I think the block I made for you is probably the one I like the most EVER!

Hi, Everyone, and thank you for the birthday wishes and the BEAUTIFUL blocks!

I've received all except Salijo's. Hopefully it will come today!

Sorry it's taken me a while to come back on here. Both our computers had to be replaced, and then all our equipment (including my camera, the modem and the router also needed to be replaced and/or new drivers found for them. What a mess!!! But DH is back on the road, so now I can breathe and get caught up a bit.

Oh, and 3 weeks ago we had a new addition... a baby donkey named Zach.

And thank you so much, Linda, for the quilt label. And, Beverly, I LOVE the card made with a photo of the block. Very nice!

The pictures are from both groups, I did write each person's name on the back, but didn't do a grid to list them as I posted.

A lot of eyebrows were raised, I think, over the colors in this block, but you should have seen my husband fondling them when they were opened. They're EXACTLY what I had in mind for a "non-girly" room!

Again, thanks so much for the cards, gifts and well wishes, they mean a lot!

How funny.....I can't tell for sure without close-up photos, but I think I see every fabric I used in my block somewhere in other blocks!

The colors are perfect. I especially love the fabric in the center star.
