RECIPE: Butternut Squash Soup

At a recent luncheon, we were served a Butternut Squash Soup that was so delectable every guest had a second serving. The chef insisted that only the squash and chicken stock were in the soup, and yet this thin-as-water soup was obviously very flavorful. From where came the flavor, and how did it get the thin consistency? Any ideas? Thanks.
