may i be blunt.. with all due respect .. and all good intent .... AND THANK FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY ... i did this myself ... IT WAS THE WORST SUMMER OF MY GARDENING LIFE .... i spent all summer stressing over the flowers .. like i didnt have anything else to worry about with EVERYTHING ELSE about the wedding ... ever have a hail storm in august in MD??? i dont understand if you are planning on doing all the flowers.. or just some ... what i ended up doing... i found a good florist who was willing to work with me ... we ordered what we needed with the understanding that i would bring all additional flowers that i could to add to it all ... it did end up working out very well .... but that was because i had a failsafe plan ... PLEASE DO THAT FOR YOURSELF ALSO ... you cant call florists a week before the wedding and hope you can find someone to cover for what ma nature did to your garden ... i ended up taking 5 five gal pails with about 100 EXTRA roses ... it ended up being wonderful .... PRIORITIZE AND DECIDE IF THE DAY OR TWO BEFORE THE WEEDING.. YOU WANT TO SPEND IT COVERED IN DIRT IN YOUR GARDEN.. or decide whether there will be about a million other things that will be more important ... like the dress .. the food.. the hall ... the honeymoon packing.. the guests.. the rehersal dinner ... the.. the.. you get the idea ... i wish you and your daughter all the luck in the world ... ken PS: is she thinking this will save money ... or out of respect for you [from your bio i suspect it is the latter] .... the money and labor you put into it all would be better spent by you by actually buying the flowers and adding some floral goodies .... this should be about you and her and her wedding .... not about your garden ... and being about as hardcore in the garden as you seem .. i had the rehersal dinner in my garden ... after rehersal .. we all just met back at the house and had pizza and relaxed ... i got all the accolades i needed for the garden ... and it helped relax me for the big day ... i keep rambling on ... sorry .... thanks for bringing back a part of my wedding that i let slip out of my memory ... men arent supposed to well up about all this .. are they????

I don't think it matters as long as you can definitely tell they are different colors. If they are too close in shade then it might look like you were trying to match, but didn't quite make it. :-) In my daughter's room I have a shade and sheer curtains. If everything is closed then the room is really dark (great for naps and summer when she goes to bed when it's still light out). If I want just a little light, or some light with privacy, then I open the shade but leave the sheers closed. And when I want it bright, I open it all up! Works great for us. My son's room had blinds, but I replaced it with a shade. Our neighbor's son had a tragic accident because of cords from their blinds and I immediately rid my home of all cords. They even had the child safety cord winders, but he reached it somehow and figured out how to get it off. Just my two cents, since your daughter's bed will be right up against the window and she could easily stand on the bed and get to the cords.

I do like yellow houses, but think it makes this one looks insubstantial. I think also that the brick tones should play some role in determining the color of the house. A true taupe, with no pink undertones, would be nice for this house. In fact, I really like the darker color for the siding. Painting a house a dark color can make it look smaller. That problem can be mitigated by painting all the trim pieces a lighter color----- not white or cream, but a much, much lighter shade of the color of the siding itself. As for the foundation, I think they have done the color scheme backwards.....you don't want three great dark holes. I would paint the arches themselves (stucco or drywall or whatever it is) the same color as the house. I would add trim pieces to the outline of the arches, molding that isn't a super fancy profile, but substantial, and paint the molding the trim color they use up top (the lighter taupe). The lattice I would leave in place and paint a lighter color still....not white, but the lightest taupe compared with the siding (darkest color on the house) and trim (much lighter taupe than siding). The shutters would be the same lightest hue as the lattice. That would unify the very disparate elements and colors going on. If they replace the railing--- and I would--- I'd use simple square railings the trim color (not the lightest, but the middle color in this palette). The door would be something entirely different--- perhaps a green or even a light coral. It's a pretty house with lots of curb appeal!

Funny that this has come back up to the top of the list, because it is next on my list of things to do. Right after I finish the birthday box for my other DD. I need to get that table out of my basement, and my DD needs a table to go with the barstools that are just randomly sitting in her dining area! Ok. I have all the tile, black, white, and a very odd shade of red. I am taking the file--which I converted into a PDF so it isn't blurry anymore--up to Kinko's, and they will enlarge it for me so it will fit the table. The backerboard has been cut and sitting on the table for weeks, DH is going to attach it for me. EGGSHELLLADY: Wow, you are amazing and obviously very patient to do all that work! Seriously! Thank you for taking the time to do that; it is close to what I was thinking, may leave in some of the swirly stems. Daisy, my daughter always has that look in her eye, ever since she was little, and try as I might, we never found a new pattern, so I figured I would just give this a try. The tiles I bought are ceramic 4 x 4, I haven't worked with those before. Slow: I'm gettin' to it, I'm gettin' to it, lol. Thanks for the vote of confidence! I'll start a new thread when I begin the project. What I need is some energy before I begin this one! ANd some free time!
