Do you wear it, and what spanx do you wear?

I was just looking at the site and sounds rather pricie

The bras look great especially the one with the straps across the back.

{{!gwi}} This one for $62 ouch!

Being as they are made of hose, wonder if they run easily!

I can't imagine being bound up in a pair of spanx...I'd be more interested in the front of the bra rather than the back...But I can buy 2 good bras for that price...so probably wouldn't do it...well I know I wouldn't.

I wouldn't pay that for something that doesn't show. I can find lots of cheap bras that gives the support I need, Walmart and Target for instance.

I bought Spanx recently. I got the lightest one, can't recall what it's called, but I'll look if you want to know. The saleslady told me to buy a size B because by weight I was an A, but just by a couple of pounds. It helps a little. I'm not sure it is much better than control top pantyhose. The A would probably have sucked me in more, but been quite tight.I wore the Spanx all afternoon and evening and didn't notice I even had it on.

Athleta (a division of Gap) has a good selection of skorts in varying lengths. They are a little spendy but the fabrics are good quality, wash and air dry well, so are great for traveling. Some/most they carry aren't really running shorts, and they give the lengths in the ads. I remember well the no-pants rules. I don't recall having but maybe 1 pair of pettipants. They just seemed like too much to wear to me. I hated slips too. Give me freedom! I wore Villager skirts with matching sweaters in winter, and in the summer I maybe had a sun dress but it was mostly shorts or for school a short-sleeved or sleeveless cotton shirt and skirt. Madras plaid was big down here, and we wore loafers or keds without socks. I had a madras plaid shift too. This was right about the time the mini-skirts came in. My mother made me a dress from the designer Mary Quant, when I fell in love with a dress I saw by her. She made it longer so I could wear it to school, but oh boy did I love that dress. It was pretty much the same when I went off to college. We could wear jeans (rolled up a little on bottom) on weekends. But we always, always dressed up for football games. And that was when my hair was the longest I ever wore it, and yes, parted down the middle and totally straight (which it is anyway). Fun times.

Well, I'll stick my neck out & be an old poop ;) Recognizing, as mentioned re other new shows, that pilots tend to be overly broad in characterizations, I still found it offensive. In light of all the female body shaming that we've been seeing IRL, maybe I'm more sensitive to that. I have family members who have struggled mightily with weight issues and an athletic teen granddaughter who can eat more than anyone and maintains the physique of a model. I thought the show showed disrespect to both for cheap laughs. The Mom in me has a real problem with the overt sexual banter shown at 8:30 pm. That's a time when high schoolers may be watching with their parents. I cringe at the thought of my SIL in the LR with his 14 yr old DD when the husband character started lusting after his wife's boobs (his term). And when she lifted them up and said something like, "Because of my Spanx, they're part boob, part gut." Yuck, just yuck. I understand parody and satire, but I don't think a lot of kids viewing at this hour do. I found it disturbing when the Mom coached her little daughter - age 5 or 6 yrs.- to lie to slim prospective buyers of the house next door. The purpose was to get a neighbor who was fatter than the Mom so she won't be the fattest mom in the neighborhood (the Mom character often used the word fat to describe herself & others..) That was just sad, IMO, and not funny. I think shows like this one and Speechless, could work if the humor had a lighter touch, like The Middle and blackish, which I find appropriate for family viewing time. I think the lead actress is wonderful. A shame they seem to try to outdo each other for shock value and the shows lose their heart. --- Me, stepping off my soapbox ;)

I saw your pic last night and was too tired to comment. You looked great in that dress and glad you were comfortable and had a good time. Not much advice for Minnesota as it is hot here too. Do you have a sweater type longish cape or ruana that would work over pants, jeans or leggings? You could wear or carry it on the plane and use it when it’s chilly.

I had a Spanx tummy slimmer. Ruthieg said it--bound up. Not as uncomfortable as another thing I tried, but I wore it once and now it's in the drawer. Overrated IMHO!

I tried some on at the store. Not too impressed...made my flat behind appear even flatter...not what I was going for.

I think buying the right cut and style clothes for your body type can help a lot more. The spanx just didn't seem to take off anything where I wanted it to. I guess it may work better on certain body types.

Never tried one. But I have some rather pricey ones, more than that. They fit perfect, and last and last, unlike a lot of others I used to try.

There is a great store in Tulsa, that sells only bras. They fit you too.

Funny you should mention this. I bought the Spanx body shaper last year and wore it once back then. I decided to wear it again this past weekend at an event and ended up carrying it home in my purse. Being 53 I was trying to widdle my middle back. I don't like to wear anything that I feel I have to keep adjusting. I would rather enjoy the show than put on the show. They are supposed to stay in one place but I kept feeling the need to fix it. Back in the drawer it will go.

Didn't work for me either. My spanx kept rolling down at the waist. I've carried it home in my purse too!

I wore one to my son's weeding last year...hated every minute of it! I couldn't go pee all night for fear that I wouldn't be able to get it back on! It wasn't worth the discomfort and pain!!
