What's for dinner 5/7?

In honor of the Kentucky Derby, we're having Hot Browns. It's an open-faced smoked turkey sandwich on toast topped with tomatoes and mornay sauce, sprinkled with more Parmesan cheese and then broiled until browned and bubbly. Top with 2 slices of crispy bacon.

Never made them before, but they sound good.

Restaurant here serves Hot Browns every Tuesday. Yummy!

Went to Mama Goldberg's for my bologna on rye.

She's known for her Mama's Love sandwiches, but I don't care for them.

I am grilling bone in ribeyes, baked potatoes, salad and after reading the asparagus thread I am off to see if our one grocery store in town has any good fresh asparagus. The power of suggestion!

I have never had a hot brown, but they sound good!

I had a nice lunch today at Bob Evan's. Half pot roast sandwich and a cup of tomato basil soup. Probably won't eat much this evening, possibly a ham sandwich and the iced tea I brought with me. Sue

Thank you all for your feedbacK! (particularly since it was positive :)) I very much like the idea of using the paper cut-outs to get the feel and also to play with patterns, the running pattern would be a second choice. I hadn't quite been thinking in terms of anomalies, but that pretty much sums up my instinct. Because everything else contemplated is pretty minimalist, I was thinking anything less than 16"sq feet would be too busy, not to mention the grout factor - ugh! The last thing I want is the eye drawn to the floor! Thanks again!

I had chocolate covered peanuts and a coke. This afternoon I got a perm. which puts the ache back into my shoulders that PT is trying to help. Then I went to WalMart for a few things and they have moved everything around so I had to walk and walk just to find what I wanted. I asked one of the clerks where the laundry detergent was and she told me. It was all the way into another section. I told her they need to hand out maps. She said it wouldn't help because nothing would probably be in the same place very long! All that walking added to my aches and I was tired. So back to dinner: I had a craving for chocolate covered peanuts. All they had was Great Value. Not very good. Sue

Today was a gorgeous day here, cool but the sun came out and really warmed things up. Early this morning hubby dyed my hair. Put a beef roast in the slow cooker to have shredded beef/barbecue sauce for dinner. Made some biscuits to have with lunch. Went out to get 10lb bag of flour that was on sale for $6.97 but they are sold out, and getting more on Tuesday. Did get some white tuna AND sockeye salmon for 99 cents/can, so we still got some great deals. Dinner was the shredded beef on a bun with coleslaw and cookies for dessert.

I made up some hamburgers made with pork and beef and hubby put our electric indoor grill out on the balcony and cooked them outside. They were delicious! It's the first time I used the grill side; so far I've only used the griddle side for making pancakes.

Served with oven-fries and coleslaw.

I just had a piece of prime rib that I had in the refrigerator.
