Ho hum, leftover chili tonight. Been a laid-back Sunday around here. What about you?

I've just made my Pumpkin and Pear Harvest soup! It is soooo good! Baked a baguette to go with it. Yum!

I used the carcass of a Costco rotisserie chicken to make chicken and rice soup yesterday so today I added some left over sauerkraut and ham and it was very good. I also made some potato salad but was too full of soup to eat any.....Roy said it was good. He loves potato salad so I will have to try some tomorrow to see what it needs. I added some organically grown purple radishes and some sugar snap peas to it and some grated organic carrot. I love getting the CSA box!

I had a nice lunch today at Bob Evan's. Half pot roast sandwich and a cup of tomato basil soup. Probably won't eat much this evening, possibly a ham sandwich and the iced tea I brought with me. Sue

Suthin Fried Chicken, Mashed potato's...canned green beans from the garden and Kings Hawaiian sweet rolls...so much for our diet around here...but it sure was nice and we'll have leftovers for tomorrow!! It's hard to have two oldies on a diet and a 19 year old skinny as a rail who can eat anything and has been begging for some suthin fried chicken...so I gave in to his begging tonight!

even thou i was vegetarian all thru my 20's i had never had an artichoke! i first had one (steamed w/ drawn butter dip) about 10 yrs ago in an italian restaurant and i loved it. i get into these stages where i eat one thing alot then get tired of it. so far this one's going on 6 months LOL but it is very healthy 60 cal. 6g fiber and i eat it w/o dipping, just plain. it's also something easy i can make, i fill a small pan w/ about 1-1.5c water and a slice of fresh lemon, bring to a boil then steam for about 45-60 min. not exact, usually when i remember it LOL. luckily we have a produce market 2 mi away and he sells nice sized artichokes for $0.69-$1.25 ea v/s publix for $3.99 often which when i can't get at the market i will get just 1 in a wk. i always eat that first and it fills me up nicely then i eat the rest of my meal. it also FORCES me to slow down, a problem i have while eating :-/ and eat each leaf then clean up the heart. i am trying trying trying to eat mostly veggies, chosing high protein healthy foods to lose weight :-) ~ liz

Today was a gorgeous day here, cool but the sun came out and really warmed things up.
Early this morning hubby dyed my hair.

Put a beef roast in the slow cooker to have shredded beef/barbecue sauce for dinner.
Made some biscuits to have with lunch.

Went out to get 10lb bag of flour that was on sale for $6.97 but they are sold out, and getting more on Tuesday. Did get some white tuna AND sockeye salmon for 99 cents/can, so we still got some great deals.

Dinner was the shredded beef on a bun with coleslaw and cookies for dessert.

I've got some chicken in the oven, which we will add to a huge veggie salad I made. Going light tonight because we went to DH's niece's Halloween party last night and ate wayyyy too much.

I think it will be chili cheese hot dogs tonight. Just got home from buying out the grocery store it seems by the size of the check I had to write and I am too tired to cook much.

Man it sure seems like grocery's have gone up lately, I buy about the same each time and each time it is more and more to pay.

Today is DH's bday so it was his favorites: Mock City Chicken, mashed taters w/gravy, cauliflower and broc, salad and dinner rolls.

I sure would love to have fresh salmon! I'd really like a chili dog but I'm trying to shed a few pounds (more like 15).

I ate out at the Chinese buffet. I had steak and snow crab and a few shrimp.

My dinner was at noon at our church. I had chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans with potatoes and ham, a cheese casserole of some kind, a small piece of ham and a small piece of meatloaf, corn, sweet potato casserole and a deviled egg. I also had iced tea. There was a lot of dessert there but I didn't eat any. Oh I also had one of my yeast rolls. I did not come home with any of the 60 rolls, 3 pies or sweet potato casserole that I took. Lots and lots of food there. Everyone always enjoys the church dinners.
