JoAnn's .... Part 3

So I returned to J/A's today with my 50% off coupon.

Item still available, sign says $14.99 and there is nothing denoting that it is on sale.

Put the coupon with the item on the counter, say to clerk (I believe he is the store manager), "I want to use my 50% off on this." He rings it up & reading from the register says, "it is already on sale".

Me: There is no sign back there saying it's on sale.

No verbal response from him, but he starts punching keys, picks up the coupon & tears it up, & gives me my discounted total. I suspect he was a bit irritated (welcome to the crowd, LOL), because he made no apology, but did say thank-you when he handed me my bag.

I have no idea whether the coupon was honored just because he is the manager & can punch in a work-around on the register,,,,,,,, or ,,,, I suppose there is a possibility that corporate directed them to give the discount if a customer objects. Who knows?? I still think it is bad of them to try to "work" customers in this manner.
