Breezygirl do you have a picture of BM Thunder in your LR?
Comments (14)Hi Positano. Sorry I couldn't get to this earlier. I saw your post right before I rushed out the door to lead our July 4 parade. I've never posted pics of my rooms with Thunder or Nimbus, although you might be able to see them in the background of a couple of my kitchen shots. I didn't specifically take pics of those rooms after we moved in because they were a mess with all our moving boxes, etc as we did some minor finishing on other areas of the house to enable us to unpack said boxes. Plus, DH needed to finish painting them. I accidentally dropped my camera in the lake the evening after my dad's memorial service several weeks ago so I can't take new photos for you right now. Let me try to find the computer cord for DH's little-used camera in the next day or so. Thunder does not tend to any purple or pink undertones in my LR. Nimbus, in my FR bordering kitchen, seemed to at first before we moved in, but either the furniture fixed that or I got used to it. I don't see any lavender now. I really like both colors, but Thunder can make my heart skip a beat sometimes. Love it! I'll see what I can do for you!...See MoreLiving room paint color w/ maroon brick fireplace
Comments (39)An update, as I think we have a winner! Thanks for all the amazing suggestions - I can't even say how helpful this was. My husband rejected a few of the options, like the sage greens. We sampled some more of the finalists and were much happier with these choices than the cooler greys we tried last weekend, which we hated. It was a tough call between Sea Pearl and Revere Pewter, but Sea Pearl won, primarily because we also want to use it the same color in the adjoining hallway, which also leads to some other rooms where we will be using more dramatic colors, so the lighter shade seemed better. Incidentally, we also decided that for the whole house, Cotton Balls will work better than White Dove on the trim and ceilings. We have White Dove in our condo and love it, but the light in the new house is totally different. The White Dove just seems dingy in some rooms, especially the north-facing ones. I'll update this thread with "after" pics in a couple weeks! Samples! You can also see that in the interim, the floors have been refinished! Woohoo! The Sea Pearl is hard to discern in this first pic because it's pretty close to the color of the raw horsehair plaster we will be painting over. (There used to be wallpaper.) But it's swatched to the left of the Revere Pewter, I swear. Here's the hallway. It's crazy how different the light is from room to room in this house. (Still doesn't explain why the downstairs bedroom, just visible on the left, was painted orange...we're going to use the Revere Pewter in there.)...See MoreI have looked at too many paint colors... kitchen update
Comments (18)After reading the latest posts, I see you are further along than you think. All the colors you named plus Gray Owl are grey green. If these are your walls throughout, it sounds like you are leaning toward painting over Dusty Trail. I say: go for it. So the only question now is: do you want the kitchen cabinets to read as green-blue, or as definitely "gray?" Note: with these pretty beach colors either will be beautiful. If Mindful Gray is still on your list please do a sample. Online it looks like anything from purple to putty to charcoal depending on lighting. Looking at your swatches again.... Benjamin Moore White Dove is a good off white color if you decide for your living room--if you don't want the green in there. SW Agreeable Gray looks the most "greige" of your chips, it may blend with the existing kitchen floor. If you definitely don't want beige, you could eliminate White Duck. This is the kind of thinking I try to do with paint. Again sample boards are needed because paint will not look exactly like the chip in your home....See MoreHELP Paint color scheme - Burnt Orange and blue accents
Comments (8)I think doing some computer imaging would be super helpful for you if that's something you have the tech skills and interest to take on. Some of the paint manufacturers have apps that let you "paint" an image of your own room to try out colors (not a substitute for testing colors in your own space since the app can only guess about light conditions, but it can help point you in the right direction). Some rug vendors (RugsUsa and eSale rugs, among others) let you visualize a rug in your space (they do a great job of sussing out what is furniture and what is floor and getting the perspective right). And I get a lot of mileage out of Microsoft Word in terms of creating collages of images, like layering the putty sofa over the top of the existing sofa, or layering in curtains or artwork. It's helpful to figure out how to remove backgrounds from images, make an image float over text so you can stack them, and how to reorder images so the curtains are on top of the wall and not under it. I did this with Benjamin Moore's personal color viewer. Colors are BM Tandoori and Elmira White....See MoreSkyangel23
