What's for dinner Wednesday?

Another very cool morning! I could get used to this. Tonight we're having ham with raisin sauce, baked sweet potatoes and green peas. I just finished the sauce and it sure smells good.

last week that one cool day I needed my space heater under my desk at work LOL i wore bermuda shorts not expecting it to be sooo cold LOL! and that was here in Longwood, just north of Orlando by Apopka

tonight will probably be Publix subs :-/ running out of pick up and go options after working 12-14 hr days LOL. i just finished my last local route for today & it's your area Patti, it ends in Lady Lake, Oxford & Wildwood! pheww it's been a long spring... have not really cooked since very early Jan LOL the kitchen looks great thou LOL! ~ liz

Patti, we like that Panera broccoli cheese soup too, but Costco's runs a close second to that. I'm due for a Costco trip, maybe Friday. We're having pork ribs, I trimmed and browned some early today and put them in my slo cooker with a made up sauce- tomato, onion, garlic, bit of vinegar, dash of numeg, pinch of brown sugar, whatever was within reach. I've got one huge baked potato almost finished to share with DH. There should be enough ribs for tomorrow too and then I'll cook some rice to go with them that DH prefers.

I'm not a sweets eater, either, but love warm ginger bread with lemon hard sauce or whipped cream. I think I see some in my near future! Angelaid, I do leave the skins on the sweet potatoes. Getting a real recipe from me is rare, lol. I so often invent toss this and that together. For the glaze, I mixed some peach jam, chili sauce, a bit of apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. The peach was the primary ingredient. It would be good with apricot or even apple jelly or jam, too. Thank you for the cookbook recommendations, Alisande.

Raven, I finally remembered to pick up some asparagus! I'll have it tomorrow with something. Ellendi, tonight I just cooked it in a very basic way. I like having cold leftovers to put on a salad, in my green sludgies, soups, etc. One cup quinoa, rinsed and drained twice. Use a mesh strainer. Add one and a half cups water or broth to the pot with the quinoa, bring to a boil with the lid on....then turn heat down to simmer for ten minutes or so. Let sit for five minutes with the lid on after the heat is off. I also add it raw to any rice or mixed grains that I'm cooking. I even add it when I'm making pea or lentil soup! Always rinse it....it has a bitter taste otherwise.

I'm gearing up for soups, stews, and chowders FINALLY! I just cannot get in the mood until the chill settles in for good. I've got a nice, meaty ham bone in the freezer that waves at me whenever I open the door. Pea soup in the near future, yum. The recipes I've seen for Tuscan bean soup sound 'mahvelous'; I'll have to add that to my list.

Hi Liz, sure wish you had more time to post, but know it's your busy season. I love Publix subs, especially during the holidays when they have the turkey, bacon, cheese and cranberry sauce sub. It's so danged good! And I love your solution to having a messy kitchen :-)

Ah, Pam! That's what I would have if I was alone. I'm nuts about those mint filled oreos.

Very long day at work today so it is just hot dogs for dinner. Right now I don't know what hurts worse my knee, back or elbow. Sure is tough getting old & having to continue to work.

Mary, I'm sorry it's been a hard day for you. Wish you could take a few days off to rest.

Lindalou, I love pepperoni--I buy it sliced and eat it on crackers for lunch sometimes. Yum!

We are having a big salad with crab and shrimp and fresh tomatoes from the farm store and sweet banana peppers from my pepper plant.

Fish, lima beans, salad, and sweet potato fries. I actually took the time to cook tonight. I've been sorting books, etc. to donate for the past two days and keep wondering just how on earth I managed to collect so many in the past ten years!!

Tonight I just had roast chicken and broccoli with cheese sauce. DH is due home later, so I'll start cooking again tomorrow night.

We took the ferry to Martha's Vineyard today then took a tour bus around the island. It was beautiful and the weather was cold but sunny.

Tonight we had ham steak with pineapple and brown sugar sauce. Also had steamed rice, beets and a tossed salad. Tonight we had popcorn for a snack.

Will be here on Cape Cod for one more day then move inland and tour Boston and Salem.
