Bill V - 1 last ? re: reinstall of oceanside backsplash

I spoke to my installer today and he recommended installing the new tile over the old tile.

This sounds good to me - less cost, less mess and less drywall repair - less chance of damaging the cabinets.

I would just like a second opinion before moving forward as I really don't want any more problems with this backsplash.

Is there anything I should be aware of going in this direction? Potential downsides?

It breaks my heart because the original installation is so nice - but the installer agreed that I am going to see all those yuck tiles everyday working at the sink and it will bother me.

Thanks much in advance - I really appreciate your advice.
