Our favorite 'Soup Lady' is finally open again, after being closed for about a month to move from her old, small store to a larger, nicer one. So DD is coming over tonight to help us pack, and is going to stop there on her way. She'll call to let us know what's on the menu today (changes daily), but DH will probably have a chicken pot pie, DD and I will have Broccoli Cheddar soup. Already ran over to the fantastic cannoli place in town, and picked up dessert (Chocolate for DH, traditional for DD and Bella Vanilla for me).

We're sort of making it a mission to hit as many of our favorite places as possible in the next 2 weeks, before we make the move.

I actually bought groceries, today, for Mother's Day lunch!
It's a treat to cook for DS, as we have one on one and he gets to rest as well.

Glenda, I know you enjoy every minute of cooking for your "boys". Tastes so much better than eating out, too. Well, at your house I'm sure. Have fun--whatcha' making? We love our pork chopped rather than pulled or sliced. Nice lunch!

Ravencajun, we don't have good tamales around here so enjoy for me!! I may be giving you an SOS soon. I found small red beans (like you said you liked) and am following the directions you posted the other day for your asasazi (sp?) beans. Unless you have a different recipe. I want to use smoked sausage. I've been hungry for red beans and rice.

For dessert, had already baked an apple pie this afternoon...just cut a couple of slices and added just a small scoop of Vanilla ice cream.

Patti -- I love turkey sandwiches made from real home roasted turkey but there are only 2 of of us. Does the cooked turkey retain its texture after freezing?

I can't stand deli turkey and even the ones that come in chunks are slimey and salty.

I like those apples at Cracker Barrel, Monica. But I'd rather have your pie and ice cream :-)

Wildchild, I just roast a turkey breast and baste it often with a mixture of melted butter and white wine. I don't know for sure, but I think the wine helps. It definitely holds its texture--but I have a Food Saver that sucks the air out so I don't know if it would dry out without it. It tasted just like Thanksgiving tonight.

I am making a huge salad with some grilled chicken on top for me. Mike is having mussels in tomato sauce over angel hair pasta.

Everyones meals sound wonderful.

I had an early supper as the kids were coming over so Kevin could use his tractor to till up the sweet corn patch to be again. So I fixed myself pancakes. They hit the spot as I have been hungry for them. I pulled more icicle and French Breakfast radishes this evening for the dinner on Sunday.
