My son made me a wooden holder for the rulers. The holder has slots which to put the rulers into. Holds about 8 rulers depending on the size. I love it as it is very handy and sits right on a table and you can see at a glance the one you want!

I have slotted holders, too, made by a friend. LOVE it! I have two--one that stays on the cutting table with the rulers that I use frequently, and a second for the specialty rulers.

I made a holder for mine. (I do a bit of woodworking.) It is a flat board and I drilled holes and inserted short dowels standing upright, longer toward back. Rulers sit upright in between their pair of dowels and I put largest at back. I can hold twenty or so rulers but don't own that many. It only takes a drill press and bit of wood and I'll share design with any of you. I used scrap I had so it was free.

I have the slotted holders for mine too. My BIL made me the first one and then I bought another at Joann's when they were 50% off. I also found a small square holder for my smaller square rulers. I have them all on my cutting table so they are very handy.

Oh, you organised people! I slide mine in, on end, between the decks and speakers of my stereo system. LOL. The templates also go in the same slot.

toolgranny - now I "get" your name - please share your design. I have a drill press and I know how to use it! I bought it for a special project (deck railing) that required about 2000 holes. I would love to use it for something else. I also have alot of scrap wood - we've been renovating this house for so long the renovations need renovating~LOL~

For lack of anything else at the moment, I've been using a slotted letter holder. I'm not totally satisfied with it but for now it keeps them upright and out of the way.

I pounded a large nail part way into one of the supports on the book shelf next to my sewing table. Most rulers have a hole at one end and I hang all of those on the nail. The smaller rulers and templates are in a small, pretty basket on the shelf.

I was just thinking this week that I need to get something to put my rulers in so I can store them all together.
The 6x24 lives by my cutting mat, the others I put in a drawer and always end up having to take everything out to find the one I want.

I have the ones I don't use often in a drawer but easily accessible. The ones that are too long for the drawer are on a peg board and I wish I could find something for the ones I use a lot! Oh Liiiiindaaaaa......please share so the geezerman can make me one. Thank you bunches!!!

I have mine on nails as well on the inside of the closet doors,and then i traced around each one so at a glance i can see what's missing.Works well for me.

Mine just lay on a shelf on my sewing table. I was going to buy a napkin holder or letter holder to hold them. But haven't done it yet. What a good question. I'm getting lots of good ideas now. I'm not sure a napkin holder would work well. ~LOL~

My rulers are first one place or another, but never the same place, and never the place I look for them!

I have Command hooks (the small wires ones at the link below) on the wall near my machine. I have one for long rules, one for square rulers and one for triangular ones.

Presently, I only have the ones that have holes hanging. That's most of them anyway. One day I'll get brave and drill some holes in the few that need them.

I also have a slotted wooden holder on my work surface to keep the rulers I'm using at any moment out of the way.

I have a lovely slotted wooden holder (thanks Rob) and I love it. The one I use most stays on my cutting mat.

I have a huge pegboard (4' x 8') on one wall. Most rulers are stored there. The 6x24" lives on the cutting table. I use that one for 90% or more of my cutting.

I do have a couple of small specialty rulers, and they live in a drawer - they have no holes to hang with, and I don't use them very much, so the drawer works well for them.

I blush when I see how organized everyone is. I have a ret. basket that I've divided where I keep the odd ones that I don't use often but the long ones and the large squareing rulers are on top of a file under my cutting table. My 4 1/2 sq is on the table beside my sewing machine, and my 8X14 is on the cutting table. I also keep the 6 1/2 under the cutting table. Need to have a better method but it works. Jayne

Oh Maggie - I love your wall. I don't have enough wall space to do that but did put some small ones on magnetic hooks slapped up the side of a filing cabinet.

I'll post my wood one in a separate posting for those who like the do-it-yourself approach.
