the reason why a 'clean' feedback record is achieved is because this jerk strings you out until beyond 90 days and you can no longer leave feedback. he has an endless string of his likely prostitute "girlfriends" answer his cell phone when you call to check on your order. sooooo, by the time he is done stringing you out 90+ days on ebay (can't leave feedback) and at the point of time where i lost THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS with this Harry Slime Man, paypal would not allow you to file any claims outside of 90 days. this is a con artist, the kin of an allegedly reputable LARGE appliance dealing chain in the St. Louis area. somehow Harry learned the ropes of the business and then got hooked up with damaged garbage that fell off the back of a truck and has pretty stock photos on ebay and what you get, IF you get anything is pure trash. we got TEN loads out of our dishwasher. he totally ripped us off on THREE pieces that we ordered and never received whatsoever the wonderful lengthy comments from "ashley" is the same blow up doll nobody who harry hands his cell phone to when the heat gets on and she (there's more than one of her) pretends to care, write down your information and "harry will get back to you". in this day and age of alleged consumer protection, i don't understand how this guy is still in business, if he is at all. the better business bureau was COMPLETELY WORTHLESS when i contacted them and i guess it goes to how much his rich family will bribe the BBB to keep his record clean. normally when you have numerous if not 1 out of 2 people this guy deals with complaining about being gypped for hundreds / thousands, the BBB rating would suffer. But the BBB is as bad as Harry Slime Man himself- just a bunch of slick talking bums. I have a feeling that the Slyman furniture dealerships do not want black sheep Harry in their outfit so they feed him the garbage by product from their business and then he goes off and rooks people on ebay for it. I never got any settlement on any of this. Harry pursued the sale and then dried up and blew away when our crap was never sent. what was eventually sent was different stuff and only ONE out of SIX appliances ever worked beyond a month. multiple ones were dead out of the box and more than one piece just was never sent at all. Like I said- by the time he strings you along for four months there's NO RECOURSE for you- so BE WARNED. if you don't get your items within a couple weeks time, file a chargeback and move on. I have no idea how this guy ever made it with a rotten reputation even through the year 2015 with the same MO, attentive customer service and then hookers answering his phone every once in a while and you just get shafted mercillessly after he strings you out past 90 days He may be OUT of business or processing payments OFF paypal (WARNING SIGN) now that paypal's chageback period is 180 days.

Easy to find out if they are an authorized dealer by checking the manufacturers' websites. As I said, the particular ebay seller I purchased from does have a brick and mortar store, just not nearby. I agree that it wouldn't be advisable to order from anyone not authorized to sell that brand. For me the $1800 savings on the oven was a big motivation, and a risk we decided to take after reading such good reviews for the seller, not just on ebay, but here, too. --And, the oven has the manufacturer's warranty. The local brick and mortar store I bought everything else from doesn't do their own service anyway, so any problems with their appliances or the ebay one will have to go through the manufacturer and a repair company they authorize...So it's important to know the manufacturer's customer service reputation, too.

Don't paint the lower cabinets! It is a nice look, but there are a lot of people that don't like it. And it is definitely too much work for cabinets in good condition to start. Don't change the counters! I would run screaming from busy laminate; the white, although out of style, is much easier on the eye and won't distract from the great floors and cabinets. If you still need a paint suggestion, I have had very good luck in selling 2 homes painted in Glidden Navajo White (have it mixed at SW or BM for a better quality). It is a soothing warm green-white that makes a nice backdrop. I've used it in rooms with all sorts of different light to medium woods and had it work. I certainly wouldn't choose any color that is darker than that. I would paint the chair rail the same color as the walls. I second using the restore-a-finish or something similar. Make sure every inch is sparkling clean! Don't forget the interior AND exteriors of the windows. Your dishwasher looks pretty similar to mine: if it is, the white front is changeable with pieces that slide into the trim. If you still have the owner's manual it should show how. I think that your table and chairs are attractive and should look nice with the darker hardware. They seem a little small for the space though under that big expanse of wall; is there a leaf that can go into the table? It might look larger once the wall are lighter, though. The picture above the table also seems lost in that space. Can you borrow, buy or create a larger painting/print, or better yet, a grouping? Maybe find a large calendar with nice photos (birds, flowers, botanical) that you can frame inexpensively to make a larger grouping over the table. Or check out Target, Pier 1, World Market, even ebay for inexpensive prints (even paintings can be very cheap on ebay!) Can you find a pair of something like a plant stand or pot rack, (not too big, don't want to make the space seem limited), to tuck into the corners on that wall? to frame the table and give that space a more finished look. Maybe even a pair of floor lamps? That is all I can suggest for staging. The rest of your plans sound perfect. Resist the impulse to do more -- keep it simple -- people like simple!

No, I don't think I'm being unduly alarmist if the OP is considering something beyond your basic GE simple appliances. Better to know all of the issues on the front end so that it can be worked out than to have to post questions on here about who can they find to install their appliances sitting in their garage! (Recent post, BTW.) Sure, pretty much anyone with a bit of handyperson skill can install a freestanding fridge or stove. It's the ones with the more complex requirements that you will need to be careful with, and it's those expensive models that a lot of people are focused on bottom line price only searching, not realizing the other issues that go with a built in. The people locally that have experience building in those fridges and paneling them will be the ones who work for the local high end appliance showrooms. And, that's the people you just snubbed by buying online. They don't moonlight. And while a good cabinet installer plus some additional manpower can help with the panels issues if he reads the manual, don't think that it won't take them longer and cost more for them to install your built in than it would if an appliance specialty installer did the work. As far as the warranty issue, there have been plenty of stories about manufacturers, Meile especially, not honoring warranties because the appliance was bought from an unauthorized seller, or out of the authorized seller's territory. Of course, that's only important if you value warranty coverage with your appliances.
