The last day and Ashley said Yes

What do you suppose she said yes too?To this little man.They were going to put Buddy down.They could not find a home.We could not allow it.So now we own Buddy.I know we did right.He is so loving.Buddy has been living at Petsmart where Ashley works.The owner walked in and turn him in 6 months ago.Buddy had some Health problems.Ashley had talked to Greg and I about Buddy and said Mom today is the last day.He had skin cancer and some type of eye surgery.He has a hearing problem.He is 9 years old.But no matter what the health problems are we will love him and be with him to the end.Coby and Chloe has already gave him many hugs.Today is a new beginning for Buddy.We are a big happy family.He is house trained may I add.Do you think we did Right?

Ugh!! Hate those dang bugs. I am trying so hard not to spray. I have had the worst year with thrips. Have had sooooo many rose blooms with brown on the edges and spotty daylilies. I decided three years ago to stop spraying for bugs and its really really hard once the beetles get here and now I have those dang green grasshoppers that eat up my buds. It seems once one is about gone here comes another. I am clueless at what to do about the thrips though. Soooo frustrating. Sorry to rant on and on!! Your blooms in both post are gorgeous Celeste. As is all the butterflies and sweet Zues and Babe. I too love Party Pinafore (think it was in the other post). Your garden scenes and lilies in those clusters are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing, Judy

We're back at last! It was a wonderful reunion but 6 days on the road gets harder and harder. Glenda, I can't thank you enough for hosting the dinner post. You are such a sweetheart and everyone enjoyed it. We had a late lunch at IHOP someplace on I-75 in Georgia. But I will tell you about the dessert we had last night at Applebee's. We split the butter pecan blondie. It was so good, I can't tell you! It was a large blondie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and sprinkled with glazed pecans, which tasted just like pralines. It has a cream cheese sauce to go over the whole thing. I don't know what all was in that sauce but it was awesome! I need to Google copycat recipes to see if I can find it. All those toppings would be really good over peach cobbler. All we did all weekend was eat and talk, eat and talk--and drink!! Thought I'd be ready for the Betty Ford clinic before it was over!! Put down the Kim Edwards book of short stories. They just weren't reading well and when it takes four or more days for me to finish a book, that's a sign of problems for the book (i.e. I don't like it). So now on to "Moral Disorder" by Margaret Atwood which will be a quick read. I am loving it so far. Going to a Witches' Brew tea party this afternoon. So you dismissed all core aeration studies that are for crop fields as irrelevant, then came along with your own crop field study that's relevant , because you say so. Show me a study on core aeration for crop fields. Tilling is not core aerating. I didn't present that OSU article for a discussion about aeration. In fact the one weakness is that it isn't specifically geared toward home lawns, so we have to make some assumptions. I'm the one saying it is hard to find any real scientific studies for a "home lawn." My interest in this article is more in the soil biology that explains why a biologically healthy soil probably doesn't require aeration. I guess this seems hypocritical to some people. Not sure why. As to your next point, yes, I say the soil biology presented in this article is completely applicable to a home lawn. Explain why it isn't. 1. In an average well maintained organic lawn, with no deficiencies, what is the average percentage of organic matter? When you say "organic" lawn I assume you mean any lawn, even yours, that has enough organic matter mulched in each year to maintain a healthy level of organics. I'm not an expert on what the exact organic level should be, but the number depends on the type of soil. Sandy soils will be hard pressed to get very high levels, while heavier soils can exhibit much higher numbers. I think morpheus' lawn is around 15%. Morpheus says 3 or 4% is borderline low, 5 or 6% is good and anything near 8% is excellent. 2. Is this level of organic matter sufficient to get in between all soil particles and prevent all soil particles from compacting and if so, what do you base that assertion on? I understand what you are getting at with these two questions, but again, you'vegotten something into your head that has no basis. You seem to think 100% of the particles must be linked to an organic particle in order for the soil not to need aeration. Nobody but you is asserting that. The article clearly shows the relationship between roots, bacteria, fungi, bugs and worms and all the other things that form macroaggregates. If you have lots of these macroaggregates around the root level, which is what naturally regulates oxygen, then you probably don't need mechanical aeration. Listen, the way science works is that you have to go on a hypothesis that may or may not be proven out over time. Eventually it becomes an accepted "law" or fact if it holds up. I've come to believe that this and other online forums are like laboratories where everybody contributes their experiences with their own lawn. Lawn companies and even universities have biases. Ask dchall about all this. He has been here the whole time and has seen a lot of what works and what doesn't. My position is that I am not going to do something to my lawn unless I have evidence that it does good. Otherwise you can do more harm than good. From the evidence I've seen in this forum, from doing other online research, and just observing problems different people come into this forum with, my conclusion is that there is no need to aerate if you are doing everything else properly. The nice lady, Lisa, started this discussion by saying she had summer fungus caused by over fertilizing ("live and learn"). She cut back on the fertilizer and started aerating. I think she is attributing the lack of fungus to the reduced fertilizer and the aerating. My reaction would be to get a Logan labs test and see if there are any soil problems, and then decide whether aerating is really doing anything. Again, if she has good soil biology and plenty of us never aerate, then why should she have to? I think too many people see lawn companies aerating and just assume it is a good thing to do. The article I presented from OSU suggests the increased oxygen can actually do harm. Scott's recommends you weed and feed in April. Do you think that is a good idea, too?

Oh, my - that's a MIRACLE in my book! The dog is gorgeous - can't imagine someone giving up a sweet dog like that (or any dog, for that matter!) - you and your daughter truely saved a life!

Thank you all for such a beautiful replys.Our face is glowing.I knew we had done the right thing but I said with sorrows in the world and the war what better thing but to share our happiness with my sec family here.I feel like Buddy still has many years to share with us.He looks good in our eyes,and they got all the cancer.He turns his little ears to see if he can hear and understand you because he lost alot of his hearing.What the owner did said when Buddy started having problems the lady but him out side thinking he would run away so she would not have to spend no money on him,but she said Buddy would come right back and stratch on her door till finally she got so mad because Buddy would not runaway and she just drop him off at Petsmart.Ashley and Ashley boss found Buddy tied on the door the next morning.Than get this Ashley and the workers took him in the store.Ashley boss said its not a runaway he felt the way Buddy was left.Than get this after about 4 months the lady came back asking for Buddy and said she changed her mind she wanted him back.The workers did not want her to have Buddy but noone would take him.But the owner had her two days and brought buddy back the sec time and said Buddy cost too much and she could not pay to have him to be sick so much.This time Ashley's boss said this is finally! You do not come back ever again to try to get Buddy.Than The vet that is in the store ,they have one that works in Petsmart,well he paid for Buddy surgery and the meds.But no matter we said we will pay the vet for his expens he had already paid out on Buddy.The Vet said no Ashley we are just so thankful you are giving him a home.The vet has worked alone with Ashley over a year and the vet has told me and greg and Ashley too that he was proud of the knowledge Ashley has with animals and Ashley isn't even going to Vet school but Ashley has always been around animals and she reads alot about animals.One thing too about Ashley that makes me proud of her,when Ashley gets a shipment of fish,any reptiles ,etc, or cat or dog any animal,and Ashley looks them over when they come in,Ashley will take them to the sick room right than till they are nursed back.The vet said he loves this about Ashley.He said often Ashley can look at a cat or dog and said they have this or that,than when the report comes back from the vet she will have it right.Got to run to feed Greg's mom and dad.His mom has the flu and so she needs nursing back too.I love to help people,animals it makes us feel so so good.

He looks alot like my pekingese, Caesar. If I ever get a digital camera I'll be able to post pictures. Buddy looks like a sweetheart. Give him lots of hugs and kisses!!

Tomorrow I will post a pic of Coby,Chloe,and Buddy together and let you all see my babies.I am so so proud of them.Ashley calls them her brothers and sisters.There is two boys and a girl.Also we have 3 new adorable kittens.They have perfect all over them.So so cute you will want them.Black one,Grayone and a yellow one.Greg has always love yellow kittens-cats.Ashley has named the kittens but I will have to ask her in the morning what their names are.I wanted to name them,Salt,sugar,pepper.Ashley said we would need a white one to be called sugar.So that did not work.Either way I have my nest nearly full.I have a goat too.I have had him about 18 years.To me this us a long time for a goat.I am not sure how long they usually live.Ashley also sees and cares for several goats,horse,donkey,mules.Here below is some pics that she cares for after work and before.Several has seen these.

Linnz you mention if you ever get a digital camera,you wabt to post pics of your babies[animals>.I know we are not suppose to chat one and one base here but It doesn't have your email on your home page,and I have a digital camera that has never been used but maybe twice.I purchased it for Ashley too early.Ashley was not into the digital stuff.The only thing I can not find the program that went with it.But I am thinking you can go to the home page of the kind of camera I have here for you free if you would like it.we have several now,and its just here.I am honest.You can ask some here,Jenni,Steph,Williamsburgjane,Others I beleive would say she will stand behind her word.I just would love you to post your pics and this camera will never be needed,used.Looks like it just came out or the package.
