Pot fillers are cold water only taps, which you can use to fill up pots or to top them up. If your kitchen pulldown hose is long enough (and you may order longer hoses) you will have an elegant and low cost pot filler. Elegant because discreet and virtually invisible since it appears to be only a kitchen sink faucet. Another low cost and almost invisible pot filler is a jug of water that looks good all by itself; since people are not looking at it as a faucet, it can be deemed invisible in terms of faucetry. The next lowest cost is a second tap near your cooktop in addition to your main faucet. But its spout will not be positioned overhead of the pots on the cooktop. Finally, a pot filler with a spout close enough to drop water directly into pots can be bought for less than $200.

what i hear is that both of you like them. Get one. It makes you look like you are serious about cooking. Or making spaghetti. Be aware that there is no place to put the water if anyone toys with opening it when a pot is not under it.

I think that they are all high flow. As high as allowed. The theory is that you need to save 1.7 seconds when you fill your largest pasta pot. And, they only blast water; you cannot get a gentle stream. But, this might be all wrong: it is impossible to try faucets with real pressurized water in the supply lines in the showroom. I wish we could try them all out and post the videos.

Do you have more than one source of water in your kitchen? A prep sink? Cool water from a fridge water line? A filtered drinking water tap? If there's only one faucet, you have a workflow bottleneck. There are a few, very few, kitchen sink faucets that let you get water from two sources at the same time through the one cartridge (mixer valve); these are usually the pro style faucets that look like storks and cranes with a spring neck; they have both a swiveling spout and a power wash spray on a hose housed in a spring.

How far away is your sink from the cooktop? Distance.

ya this pot filler is strictly because they look cool. or at least if you pick a cool (& hopefully inexpensive) faucet, it's sort of like a backslash "feature". I am a serious cook, but i do know how to laugh about this because my sink is only ..uhhm.. 2 steps away from the range? please don't laugh. :o)

celineike, consider this idea: the Axor Citterio Semi-Pro faucet's hose extends further than any other semi-pro style faucet. (The Axor website says nothing about it so you have to call them if you want to double check this instead of taking an internet person's word...)

Since the hose is long, and it pulls out, the reach of the sprayer is huge, not like all the other "Pro" faucets, that allow very LITTLE range of movement. It's very attractive. Its hose actually slides out of the coiled part, like a non-pro pull-out. In fact that is what it is, a pull-out with a long hose. Although pricey it's worth it. Hansgrohe makes another version that costs less and has less of the cute factors of the Citterio, but you can add the handle back on. Mix and match parts.

I've seen lots of folks here get a Chicago Faucets pot filler. And they're well priced.

I got the attached Kingston Brass Potfiller from Overstock for $164.00. Retails for $499.00 (who pays retails?). Faucetsdirect.com, who matched pricing on every other kitchen plumbing item that I bought, sells for $324 and wouldn't match pricing for this one.

Anyway, I love my potfiller. Yes, totally unnecessary in a residential kitchen. But it looks and works fantastic and most importantly, I use it every day and am so glad I got it! Good luck.

I never understood the benefit of a pot filler, because you still have to haul the pot back to the sink to dump the pasta and water out. I guess it's saving you one of the trips, but is that worth it? It does look cool. But you are on a tighter budget it seems. if I were looking for places to save money in my kitchen re-do, I would take the money that both the pot filler and the plumbing for it costs, and spend it elsewhere in my kitchen. There's so many other things in the kitchen to spend money on!
