Living Room pics--FINALLY

Well, finally, after 1 year I can post living room pics. The only thing is we still need a table in between the 2 chairs, and I need the chair recovered.....

Would love some ideas on chair fabric and table...I am thinking a round one.... Any photoshoppers?

(Are the curtains too short?? I am hoping they just haven't fell yet--meaning they are new! Then, if they don't drop I the table will cover that area up in front of it....)

LMK what ya'll think!! Wall color appears a bit lighter than it actually is.

Beautiful. Love the rug. I actually bought the runner and brought it home to 'test it out' to see if it matched another rug in an adjoining room. Looks great with your sofa.

I think a round table would look great. I think a plaid or check or other geometric might look great on the chair. I do think the drapes are too short. Can you lower the rod? It wouldn't be a huge deal--would have to patch some holes.

For fabric--check out Calico Corners or Hancock. I bet you could find something. Love the rug. Where is it from?

Kat3kits....oh yes! Claustrophobic doesn't even begin to describe! We have only lived here since April, but not only did that layout not work for our daily cooking, it was an Entertainment nightmare. We had to have 2 dinner parties so I could prove to DH how bad it was! Truth be told, the cabs were 35year old solid oak (maybe ash?), Amish made, they looked brand new! Hardly looked dated at all! I am happy to report, even though I chose not to reuse them, they were all donated to others who will install them and reuse them!. The appliances were a nightmare, none worked right! So happy we spent the money and lightened up the cabs and changed the configuration. It feels like its the way the house was meant to be!

I am so excited for you! Your kitchen looks lovely and how nice to have an even lovelier little helper ... and another on the way. Lucky you! Even though the GC may have been shady, I'm esp. grateful your kitchen was done before your blessed event arrives -- now that would have been a nightmare. Ugh. My husband works for NOAA (in Boulder), so that's my sole connection there. Not from TX. Congratulations -- I am really proud of you for getting through it with a toddler and morning sickness. You should be proud of yourself, too!

I vote for hardwood or engineered wood through the whole space, including the kitchen. Opening the wall would be nice, but I suspect your appliances are arrayed along that wall? I'd paint the wall the same pale color as the living space, and hang a really big mirror on the wall if you can't open it. Then you open the wall visually, and reflect the light from the sliders back into the space. (I know...me and mirrors. They are great manipulators of space, particularly when you commit to making them big!)

Thanks very much for all of the nice compliments! :) Texasgal47, the cabs are kraftmaid from home depot. Yes! WE love the spice drawers and even the knobs on them- We were going to use the hardware knobs be purchased for some of the other cabs but I really liked the "apothecary" look of the knobs they came with. Under the microwave are 2 drawers (one larger than the other in width) they are not landing spots for the Micro. It opens and closes in the space it is in. Hope that makes sense. thanks again :)

You're off to a great start! Your vibrant rug adds such a happy touch. Pull one of the colors from the rug for the chair upholstery. Maybe add a muted striped pillow to the leather chair in the coral, gold & green from the rug.

If the curtains don't fall enough, you have a few options. You can either 1.) lower the rods (just need to patch and touch-up paint), or 2.) add a coordinating fabric to the bottom, or 3) add a coordinating fabric to the top, or 4) splice a few inches (5"?) of a sheer embossed in the same tone so that the sheer falls about midway in the top window pane, or 5) since you have double height walls, keep the rods in place but just drop the drapes by attaching rings. Adding rings are the easiest! If you decide to add fabric at the top or bottom, consider about 12" for impact.

A round table between the chairs will be nice. If you get a coffee table, find a simple wood or metal frame glass top that won't compete with your rug. Play around with your shelf display, maybe interspersing the LLadro (type) pieces or giving them a deeper color backdrop if they don't show well enough in real life.

Your living room looks wonderful! The rug looks great with what you have done. As I mentioned before I have this rug in my bedroom also and just adore it. The best part is it doesn't show foot prints.:-) I'll see if my hubby will post pics of our room to give you other (my comforter color) ideas that work with this rug, maybe give you a idea for a color for your chair. Great looking LR, I'm so jealous cause mine is a L O N G, L O N G, way from being done.....

Lovely! The room looks very warm and inviting.

May I suggest you move the stuff on the bottom two shelves of the bookcase so they aren't way off to the sides, I think there is too big a gap in the middle.

Yes, a round table would look good, and I think you also need an end table or coffee table for the sofa.

And yes, the drapes are a tad too short. Can you move the rods down a little?

I agree with everyone here...the drapes are just a TAD bit short. If you don't want to lower the rod, maybe using some rings to hang the drapes from???

The bottom two shelves are to much alike...the items need to be broght in more to the center as well.

As your for TV, it looks like it is floating (a problem with plasma's). Maybe a sofa table just under it to help anchor it? Or a small cabinet. I don't have a problem with my plasma floating, as hubby put another BIG SCREEN TV under it...grrrrrr! MEN!!!! LOL

ALl in all the room looks GREAT!

Catiecupcake had a great idea about using rings to hang the drapes. I also like her idea about putting a table or cabinet under the TV.

I do not know why I didn't think of rings. I think I will try those. They will surely drop the curtains enough...

Our built in book case...I am still working on it--trying to find various things.. Will move some things around....

Also, I really want something under our tv...... I would love a thin table....

I had to do clip rings for my store-bought drapes in bedroom. They work well for that little bit of lowering needed. Your color scheme is really pretty. If you are going to spend $ on recovering your chair, make it a texture or a solid so it will work for you through the years.

I would do the chair in a chocolate brown fabric of some sort..a chest or bench would work well between the two chairs
