Thanks, Jean and Carol. Yes, I think iris and daylilies fit in well in rose beds. Even when not blooming, the foliage hides the roses' skinny legs! Some are concerned they will get too much nitrogen, but that hasn't been a big problem for me. And, Carol, since you are in the area, I got Different Flavors at a Dallas Iris Society sale. For your information, the next sales are on August 9 and September 6 at North Haven Gardens in Dallas. Also, this Sunday is their Iris Show. Last year from Christmas I decopodged this poem and made a bank for my daughter out of a mason jar. Painted the jar, decopodged the poem, used kitty rub on's and tied a ribbon with tiny bells around the rim of the jar. I also cut a slit for the money to be dropped in. Joanne Cacciatore was actually the author of the poem in the book. I really believe it was a message from him...I just started flipping through and it opened right to that page...It brought tears to my eyes but for the first time it was actually good tears knowing my little boy was safe. As soon as my husband got home i explained what happened and had him read it...he just sat down and cried.

Heather that is so sweet! I guarantee my grandpa would pick up any penny he saw. I picked up a dollar bill the other day along with a receipt from a grocery store. Apparently the wind carried it up across a raised railroad track right to the middle of a paved playground at the park just for me to find. Kathy_PA
