UPDATE on I'm pissed!

Thanks all for your kind thoughts and letting me vent. I really needed it yesterday.

To answer some of the questions first - our firm's policy doesn't limit the # of days one can take off. I approached him and he totally refused to change his plans even though for part of his "vacation" he'll be back in town. Management just suddenly decided that I now have to coordinate my time off with two other people which leaves me little options. Guess that's the price I have to pay for being here the longest and knowing how to do other people's jobs.

Now for the good news - I was able to plan a vacation for a week later with only one compromise. When I looked at airfare last night - it was going to be double what I had planned on the week prior, but looking today - they had the same deal! I jumped on it immediately! I got Tampa to Newburgh, NY for $74 one way! It's a direct flight too. I'm totally stoked!

The only compromise is that I won't be able to use my girlfriend's home to stay a few days (free) as she'll be home from her vacation by then. So that'll be an additional hotel cost I wasn't planning on.

So here are the details:

July 29 - Fly to NY and drive up to Lake Placid

Two nights in Lake Placid where I'll take my nephew to Whiteface Mtn., gondola ride, bobsled run and biathelete shooting!

Over to Woodbury, VT to Ben & Jerry's on our way to Mt. Washington, NH

Then over to Freeport, ME to see LLBean factory store and get good lobster!

Down to Boston to the USS Constitution, the North Church and some restaurant called Durkin Park. Brother says they have the best prime rib!

Across MA back to NY to visit friends in the Hudson Valley area, go to state historic sites that my father used to run and include Vanderbilt and Roosevelt homes in Hyde Park, NY - then back to Newburgh to fly home.

Lotsa miles. Hopefully, lotsa fun.

Thanks again,

Barbara
