Telling me I was due to receive the $600 that I received last week :)

Also said how the amount was calculated.

Single - $600 or the amount of tax due, but no less than $300 ... if income was at least $3000.

Anyone else get this letter?

Read it?

Gotten a check for a sum between $300 and $600 ?

Got my money last week, the letter came a day or 2 later. Guess that's how their schedule is working. We got the full $1200 we were hoping for.

One thing to be aware of--if you DID NOT file taxes last year because you didn't have to (some seniors, for example) you may still be due a refund. There's a form you need to fill out, has to be filed by October. Could be worth looking into, for those who made too little to file, and didn't realize that.

Jan, laid back is an understatement for Oreo! LOL. Jazz is highly energetic on the other hand, and when he's bored is when he's "Trouble". Dad is here and unlikely he'll be going to the care center any time soon. Things sure fell apart on that during the last month. Anyway, Jazz is totally 'my' cat so he wouldn't miss Dad, or my DH. He's very independent, not much for being petted and HATES being held. And wants to sleep alone. Guess he loves me cause I feed him and he thinks I'm entertaining at times. LOL. hugs, Karen

Happened to us, too. We got a letter dated Nov. 20, 2010 which said we made an error on our 2008 tax return and we owed $1,113.00 including $73.00 interest due them if we paid by Dec. 29, 2010. (Remember this.) We checked our return and we did make an error, so I sent them a check, which cleared our bank Dec. 15. On January 10, 3022 we got another letter saying we owed $95.30 which I assume was interest on $953.00 they say was unpaid. Do not ask me where the $953 figure came from, but they worded it as "total failure-to-pay". We had paid the interest due in plenty of time to meet the deadline. I called them and talked to man who told me not to pay the $95 until we got another notice and then call back. He didn't think we owed it but "the computers weren't talking to each other", so he couldn't pull the info up. He said it should work itself out. I got his name (and made him spell his last name which was very long) and also his ID number. Got another letter Feb. 28, 2011 telling us we'd overpaid on our on our 2010 taxes so the deducted $94.33 that we owed from 2008 from our refund. At this point I figured out two things: A. I wasn't going to get any answers from them B. We weren't going to win the battle I suppose we'll get audited again next year. Sigh! Harry insists on doing them himself. I wish he wouldn't. So yes, document just about every single word, get names (ID numbers, too, if you can) and keep everything. I keep the letters (with my notes written on them) in our 2008 tax folder.

Way too warm for snow here, but hilly parts of the area (SoCal) had all the rest yesterday and into today. Just gloom where I live, though. :) It's a five letter word, but more than any other kind of weather we have gloom or shine. Are you in a mountainous area? (I don't remember if there are mountains in MI.) You remind me of similar weather in the Sierra Nevada where I was getting sunburned while hiding from the hail under a big umbrella, on an afternoon when it had snowed before sun-up (so I was told) and thundered and poured in the morning. Do you think all your words go together regularly? I'm beginning to think maybe so!

I posted this the other day...

We got ours...But only Denny got it.

I collected SS last year, we file jointly, but I was not included....I'm bummed...

I can think of more than 600 things I would like to have spent mine on....lol

Patti, I still think you should inquire about that. There's contact info on the letter you got/will recieve. Even people who didn't pay taxes last year are eligible for at least $300. It could be a mistake. Have you checked and gotten an answer? Maybe you have to file the extra paperwork they were talking about on the news last night? I'm sorry, I don't have the # of the form, but you should be able to get it from your local IRS office.

We got ours on the 2nd,also. We only got like $1120 for some reason. We got the letter, too, but neither one of us could figure out the "tax credit" gobbledgoop. I ain't complaining though.

Didn't get a letter, but $600 was deposited last Friday! Which is what I was hoping for! I'm not sure who gets the $300.

If you file jointly, I'm sure you'll only receive one check per household. And there's a workbook page you can fill out to find out how much you'll receive, I did it, took about 3 minutes, had to have the 1040 in hand. Woody and I will get $600, total. We're going to split it, save it for whatever we want later down the road.

We should have gotten it by now, but it's late showing up. That's OK, I can wait. I get a little annoyed at some things I've read on other web sites where the peeps are crabbing about it, geez- they sound soooo greedy and demanding.

Yes, I got the refund in my account quite early, and then got the letter. What I can't understand is why it was $318, instead of just the $300. Couldn't find any rhyme or reason for it. Oh, well, so what else is new???

I didn't receive a letter nor has anything been deposited, and do believe I should get a stimulus check, so would sure like to know a contact address.

Mine hasn't been deposited yet either. It should be this Friday, as my last 2 digits are almost the highest numbers, so I'm in the last bunch to receive it. I think it is stupid to send out that 2nd letter. A waste of money and man/woman power.

But - I don't have dealings with the I R S relative to their inflow department, either.

And pay less than 10% of income to the income tax people, up here ... including about 2% for medical/hospital levy. Plus I think that I paid $40.00 (maybe $50.00) pay-direct for a PSA test for prostate concern, last year.

No pills, paid for by whomever.

No complaints from me, really.

suzi orman said run don't walk to take the money and invest...

i wasn't about to take a chinese loan and pay them twice...one in the eventual taxes to pay for the loan or in chinese-made goods...
