Javagirl, The ones in Kitchen and DR were in the house when purchased. I do know they were made and the fabric is called Burne by Kravet, color 612. Graywings, Thanks for your input also. I will be having a seamstress I know come out to the house wednesday and look at the RS that we have and make the same thing for the bedroom. I have chosen this fabric ( ballad bouques )for the bedroom. Now the room has been painted a different color from the shots up above.

Lyban, those came from Country Curtains, were quite inexpensive, and had pulleys with lock stops at the top corner for the pull cords, so although they had a little weight, they went up and down very easily. Also, because they were bamboo slats rather than matchsticks, they did darken the room considerably, but not completely. Mine were not lined. Hanging them at the top, on the outside of the frames, meant that they didn't have to be precisely the same width as the windows...they were actually about an inch past the window frame under the curtains. Fabric ones can be light or heavy, depending on the fabric itself, and the lining. I had lined fabric shades made from a heavy cotton with a contrasting border for my library, and they were actually a bit harder to get up and down.

Andee-Yes thankfully the wood trim is in very nice condition and I do like the look of the inside mount. No, I do not need the privacy as the view is of our side yard and the front walk. The only one who looks out that window is the dog and he stands on the fireplace hearth to do it! Annie-Can you elaborate on how you sewed your shades so that the stitching was hidden? I could sew a pocket on the top of the shade to insert the rod so that I could keep the inside mount. Also, there are between the glass blinds in the window which can be opened and closed, but not raised and lowered. I can remove them and thought I would as I think it may look better without them. A roman shade isn't that hard - I know you can do it! I like the idea of softer, more muted fabrics - and I really like the blue bubbly looking one you last posted. BTW, Christopher Peacock used a tangerine paisley in his kitchen: This might look nice too. or this: Since you like to shop online, try Hancock's of Paducah. They have a ton of nice quilting and home decorating fabrics. I also like fabriccarolina.com, which is where the scrolly fabric came from. Good luck finding something perfect!
